Hi guys

I need some advice so I’m feeling really sick and struggling on a morning

I’m sick throughout the day and tired which leads to dizziness

My manager has been okay up until today when he stated that I would just have to be sick at work and when I said whatever I eat comes up he said don’t eat !!!

I really don’t know what to do I’m thinking of going to the drs and getting a sick note

Iv taken a weeks holiday next week

I don’t want to stress about work

Definitely go see the doctor as soon as you can. Hopefully they will have experience of this and know what to do. Some people do just get really sick (Kate Middleton for one) and whilst I think there might be some medication they can give to you, they still may suggest time off work. Most importantly you should not have extra stress!

I do hope you feel better soon. Xx

That does not sound like it is any good for either you or the baby. Especially in this heat. Get to your doctor as soon as you can. Big hugs xx

I am so sorry to hear that. It really doesn’t sound like a good place to work. I would start looking for new job during the maternity leave. Hope you get well soon.

Normally it’s a good place to work and it’s flexible I’m a social worker but just how inconsiderate my manager is being is stressful he was very supportive in the ivf process

Oh Well.

I hope the sickness would subside soon. Good luck with your pregnancy.

You can self certify for the first week unless your work specified otherwise which will then be a private sick note ( but they should pay for this). If you’re finding it hard to keep things down, see your GP. Take a urine sample with you- they will check it to make sure you don’t need to be in hospital and there are tablets they can give you to stop the vomiting but it will be hard for them to sign you off without trying any medication.

Ps you are entitled to a workplace assessment when you are pregnant. If your manager is still being arsey ask for an OH referral. X

Sorry to hear your work aren't being great with your sickness. In my nine months of pregnancy I had a lot of sick days due to sick through out and also bad back. Whenever I went back for back to work meetings my boss said nothing could happen to me as it's all pregnancy related. I hope this helps just take care of yourself and the baby x

Definitely go see your GP, my nausea was so bad I wasn’t eating and struggling to drink enough (500mls of fluid and not much sickness luckily but then I didn’t eat 🤔) I got prescribed cyclizine which is an anti nausea/sickness drug safe to use in pregnancy and I was finally able to eat and drink and yes, I did have bad days even on the drug but I managed to get to work everyday and function enough. Doctors I saw would rather you managed to eat and drink something and take the drugs than not. It’s better for you and the baby (in fact I weaned off at 12-15 weeks as advised only to go downhill again and went back to the doctors at 20 weeks to discuss staying on a low dose for the rest of my pregnancy and they agreed it was the best thing to do) Hope you get through the first trimester (it is the worst!) and feel better soon x
