Pain when inserting progesterone gel

Hi all,

I am using Crinone once a day and am 9 weeks pregnant. Recently, however, when I’ve been inserting the applicator, it has been a struggle to push it in. It’s painful and feels like it’s pushing through something, or somethings blocking its way. With a bit of wiggling I can fully insert it but not without pain. Any advice? Xx

I didn’t get on at all with inserting vaginally, too sore, painful and irritating for me. Ask if you can insert them rectally? I inserted my Cyclogest 400 pessaries anally and blood tests proved they were absorbed v well!

I could...im not using pessaries though, it’s a gel so I don’t know if it would work the same? Xx

Oh I see! If you’re struggling definitely get some advice! There must be an non irritating alternative. Good luck x

Im on utrogestan with applicators and i find that when inserting them, if you constantly twist the applicator all the way in, it doesn't feel uncomfortable or hurt. I was finding a bit of resistance without twisting and it felt as it the applicator was scratching its way in 😖 xx

Have you been having a ‘clear out’ whilst using the crinone? It can get a bit blocked and clumpy up there so my clinic advised me to do so every other day, I always found inserting a lot easier then x

Great advice from E_05 . I found that I had loads of residue up there and that could defo be causing issues. Having a regular clean out may help!xx

Yes exactly the same! You get a build up but your body takes what it needs after around 20mins to half an hour....the rest is just left over!xx

I’ve not been feeling like it can’t get up, but I am very prone to pain during internals and even often during s*x. I have endo on my cervix. Twice now I’ve started to feel that old familiar pain when inserting Crinone. I don’t know what to do if some day I just can’t go through with it? I nearly felt that way this morning. Do they have tablet alternatives? I saw someone talking about Rectally further down comments and nope nope not gonna happen!
