Weight gain.

Hello, has anyone experienced weight gain I have their fertility journey? I've had a positive result since our last IVF, we are waiting for our viability scan next week, at that stage I'll be 7wks4days. I reckon since the beginning of the year, when I started injections I've put on 5/6lbs and I can really notice it. I'm too scared to go running in case I knock it off its perch 😁 I'm currently taking cyclogest and crinone. Am I kidding myself for blaming the drugs? Is it just age and I need to work harder to maintain a weight I'm comfortable with or does anyone feel the same?

Hey box, I’ve put on a stone and a half since last summer and have had two cycles in between that time. It is definitely cycle related I think. My second cycle saw me put on 10lbs. I am really struggling to shift it too despite exercising. It is really getting me down but will keep trying to shift it. If you have any tips, please share!

Hi there, it's definitely the meds and resting more for me. Although I don't think it affects everyone the same way. On my first cycle of ivf last year, I put on a stone and a half, I managed to lose 9lb but I'm currently on my 2ww of my 2nd cycle and I've put on half a stone so am slowly creeping up again. It's so hard knowing what to do for the best. At the mo I don't want to do too much because if this cycle doesn't work, I would blame myself that I did something to make it go wrong. I do walk the dog 3 times a day so am getting at least 40 mins in but it doesn't feel enough xx

I'm the same, I don't want to do anything that could risk it. If it goes wrong at least I can say I didn't do anything wrong but if I go running and it goes wrong, I'll blame me going running 😢

Thank you. I'm terrified for our scan next week, I just hope everything will be okay. Me and hubby haven't been jumping for joy, we are very tentitive x

We are the same - no celebrations. We have our 8 week scan on 5th July.

Being very cautious.

I feel awful though - so that makes me feel like something must be going on!

I feel guilty for not celebrating, I feel I should be shouting it from the rooftops but after having a previous miscarriage I'd rather be cautious and if I'm going to fall, I won't fall from so high x

Good luck on your scan. We are almost exactly the same with our dates, we have our early scan on the 5th as well, I'll be 7wks4days I think xx

in reply toBox01

I think it is ok - you can celebrate later on in your pregnancy :) This one is very much wanted for us too - but we cannot celebrate until we are further along. We have been through failed IVF so taking nothing for granted.

I do believe it will be ok though :)

Hi Box01. Dont worry, I think its mostly to do with the drugs. I have put on so much weight since I started this journey last year. My belly is so bloated that I already looked 6 months gone and most clothes dont fit anymore. I think its just something we have to accept. Try walking regularly. I find that helps me x

Yes, I'm very bloated, I look 6 months pregnant and I'm worried will start thinking I'm pregnant when I don't want anyone to think I'm pregnant. It's very annoying what us women have to put up with.

Yep I’ve totally put on weight, I’ve gone from a size 8 for years and years to a size 10, and I’m short so I feel it really notices, and since this round I’m like a balloon, I shan’t be getting on the scales until I have to!! Good luck with your scan xx

Thank you. Same here, I've been the same size for years and now there's extra padding around my back of all places, and obviously my my jelly belly. I want to get off these drugs I'm on ASAP so I get it all out of my system

Yeah totally! I’m on progesterone injections as well as the progynova so I look like I’m about 5 months pregnant not 5 weeks! The things we put ourselves through! Xx

I know, men really do get it easy, on the body front, I know they get put through it as much as we do mentally x
