I can’t offer advice but I wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your cycle has been cancelled; how disappointing for you.

All the best with the transfer in August hope it goes well August will be here before you know it ❤️❤️❤️xoxo

Sorry for the disappointment.

Based on personal experience, I'm aware of two FET protocols.

- You start using oestrogen and/or patches on CD1, go for scan to check lining after some days ( 15 - 18 days), if lining is satisfactory, you start progesterone for a min of 5 days and then you proceed to transfer of embryo

- You start taking Buserelin injection from day 21 of cycle, go for scan and/or blood test after some days (13 - 20days), if result shows you are down regulated, you then proceed to using oestrogen and then go for another scan to check lining, if lining is satisfactory you then proceed to using progesterone and then transfer.

Wishing you success with your next cycle.

Sorry to hear this, did you not get your surge?

I opted to keep trying on the natural FET, I did have a cancelled one because it was too long a cycle but I kept trying as really wanted to do natural and understand (but might be wrong) that you have to wait longer between trys with medicated.

Hope your August one goes well x

Hi it’s all been a bit crazy, I got a peak on Friday using just the strips but never got anything on the clear blue!! When I said this the consultant said it was our choice if he went ahead but the only really recommended using clear blue.......so we’ve decided to wait as only one frozen embryo to use!! Xx

Sounds like a good decision, you want to be 100%

I'm sorry your natural fet has been cancelled. I have done a medicated fet and will be starting my next one soon. Call clinic on day 1 of next period get your consenting appointment booked. Then day 21 of cycle start buserelin injections, 2 weeks later have a blood test to make sure suppressed (have a bleed during the two weeks) 2 days later had phone call to confirm if suppressed, reduced buserelin and start progynova tablets and oestrogen patches that day. 13 days later thickness scan, 2 days after scan started cyclogest pessaries, 3 days later stopped buserelin and transfer 2 days later. All in all from starting injections to transfer it was 37 days. To give you an idea my day 1 was 30th Nov, started meds 20th Dec and had transfer 25th Jan. It sounds like a long time but it wasn't too bad. Xxx

Wow thank you, that sounds a lot to take in!! They just told me to call on day 1 and then injection on day 21! Then in the middle of that they’ll get us in to explain our plan xz

Definitely sounds like they’re down regulating you for your fet. You might want to ask if they offer an option to be medicated but not down regulated?

Ah ok, when would I ask this?? Do I need to ring them or wait till I ring on day 1 xx

And what’s the difference xx

Lizzielizzielizzie profile image
Lizzielizzielizzie in reply to Lisaworthy1981

I’d ring them tomorrow, the difference is you don’t need to do the three weeks of buserelin or whatever so it could start a month earlier, you’d start oestrogen on day one instead. I don’t think all clinics offer it though. But my clinic said they have no difference in outcomes between down regulated fets and non- down regulated so it seems worth asking. Taking fewer drugs has to be a good thing!

Ah ok brill thanks I’ll ring them and see!! Xx

Sorry another question.....if I’ve opted for medicated but I did get a surge next month could I change back, or do you think they’d say no xx

No idea sorry, I think that really depends on your clinics time tabling and how busy they are each month

I'm sorry, honey. I'm afraid I don't have any wise words for advice. Just a thing stuck in my head-- You will be given the meds to take too to build your lining so hopefully you won't have to worry too much about a lining issue with that. Every waiting is hard, I know, but also I'm sure your dr guides you the best. Thinking of you and wish you all the best of luck with this coming cycle. Fingers crossed for your August ET! Let's hope we both get our bfps from our cycles!!! X

Thank you!! It’s so annoying as she said last week my lining was perfect and two dominant follicles!! Apparently I was text book......but just no surge xx

The other option is talk to them about short protocol. With that you down reg and take oestrogen from day 1 rather than you needing to wait until day 21. If you do that you might be able to start with your next AF and do it a month earlier. For my first FET my clinic made me do the long protocol starting on day 21 but the following 2 they put me on short. I asked why the change but never really got an answer other than you don’t have to wait as long on short.

Fab thank you, I’m going to give them a call and see if they offer this!! They never gave me the option but maybe the long protocol is the one they offer first!! I’ll see how I get on!! Xx

Just phoned they don’t do the short protocol, least that’s my question answered xx
