Hi all I’m currently at the stim stage of my icsi cycle and I’ve just possibly dislodge a filling. Is it safe to have dental treatment - I’m likely going for egg collection and transfer next week and the earliest appointment I can get is after next week for the dentist. Also do I need to tell them I’m having icsi? Goodness there is just so much to think about all the time! Thanks for reading.
Dentist. : Hi all I’m currently at the... - Fertility Network UK
Dentist.
I was advised by clinic to postpone any permanent treatment and made the very valid point that should the cycle not work you would blame that. The dentist will be able to put a temp covering to protect your tooth. I've had further sensitivity in another tooth and need to get both fixed once I've given birth. Hope this helps. X
I had work done on a wisdom tooth (slightly different I know) the day before I started stims... I called my clinic and said antibiotics would be fine if required, just not ibuprofen etc.
I also told my dentist who was a bit ‘why are you giving me this info?’ And it didnt seem to worry him...
all the best lovely!! X
I’m a dentist and have been through 3 icsi cycles.
It’s definitely safe to have Dental treatment but if you’re like me and trying to avoid any stress or anaesthetic then it’s absolutely fine to ask for a temporary filling for a month or so. If it’s just a break and no decay, you can carry on with the temporary until you’re ready to have the final filling.
You don’t have to disclose that you’re going through icsi as the meds will not interact with anything they may give you, but obviously must let them know if you think you might be pregnant 🤞 x
Thank you all so much for the replies, I’m going to ask for a temporary filling until we know what’s what and take it from there.
