I went to the fertility clinic yesterday and the doctor told me I was overweight and that my BMI was 30.2. I need to lower it and loose weight to be able to have IVF.
She now called me saying that the blood test results were unexpected on AFH and that she wants me to go for a ovarian scan on Monday. She thinks it could be PCOS.
I’m new to this, I just though I was stressed and struggling to get 🤰🏻 because of my age (35).
Can you tell me what to expect? From the scan? Life with PCOS and the likelihood of having a baby?
Thank you

I’d advice you to see a nutritionist - PCOS can improve with the right food . You will need good nutrious food to also get the energy to get pregnant.. that will also help you to decrease your BMi
The good news is that you have a lot less BMI than me and you are 5 years younger than me also because there are age limits as well as BMI limits if you are having IVF on the NHS.
Get your dr to refer you to the dietician asap. I was referred in December and only have my first appointment next Thursday and I fear it is all too little too late in my case.
The dietician will be abe to recommend foods that are good for ou and be able to work out a healthy timescale in which to lose the weight. I believe that the BMI imit for IVF is around the 28/29 mark so you can easily do it with a little support.
