So after a year of TTC unsuccessfully I've finally had a blood test at the doctors. The levels that have come back suggest it could be PCOS, but aren't overly clear, so I'm having another blood test and being referred for an ultrasound too. After reading so many horror stories on Google, I just wondered if anyone on here has PCOS and how this has impacted on them TTC... Thank you xx

Possible PCOS...
Hi Sarah, whilst PCOS can make it harder to conceive initially there are loads of things you can do to improve your chances so don't be disheartened. I help women with PCOS stay in control of the condition with diet and lifestyle changes as predominantly PCOS is a result of many hormones being out of sync. So although it generally takes more changes than just taking hormones, you have loads of options to help regulate insulin, cortisol, sex hormones etc etc. Best of luck with the next test and ultrasound -what hormones did they test you for? Did you get a copy of your results? x
Thank you for your reply. I didn't write down what they said when they gave me my results so I'm going to get a copy of them. They're also repeating the blood test in the first five days of my next period to double check. Hopefully someone will then be able to help me understand. I'd really like to know more about changes I can make xx
Hi Sarah, I have PCOS and it did affect me TTC, but we had a male factor also. However I know girls with PCOS who have conceived naturally. IVF worked for us and I am now 16 weeks pregnant. Wishing you the very best of luck 💕xx
I too have PCO. Diet and gentle exercise have a big role to play in managing to regulate the hormones. But that alone is not a reason to not concieve. Have they done other tests? Are you ovulating? Don't just stop at this point. Keep questioning what exactly is happening. I was fobbed off by NHS for a year. I went for a private consultation. Turns out I had blocked f.tubes and endometriosis.
Good luck🤞.
Thank you for your reply. I'm waiting for a second blood test and an appointment to come through for an ultrasound too. I think I'm ovulating - according to ovulation tests - but I'm not sure how reliable they are! Was going private very expensive if you don't mind me asking? xx
Thankfully my health insurance through work covered the cost. Not all policies do. I was lucky. But clinics have prices up in their websites to give you an indication. You could get investigations done quicker too.
I have insurance but apparently it doesn't cover fertility which is annoying! Did you go under fertility reasons or did you say it was health reasons? I've seen someone through my insurance before when it was to do with irregular periods and pains but never mentioned the fertility word then xx
Hi Sarah, after 3 years of TTC naturally ( GP advised 3 years) I was sent to a consultant and after numerous tests diagnosed with PCOS last year. I have been on Letrozole tablets for just over 6 months which appear to have got my cycles in sync but unfortunately they have not been successful. Consultant appointment at the end of the week to discuss next step. If you have any questions feel free to message
With the endo I have trouble walking up steps and was in pain every month so the reason was pain management. They cleared the tubes at the same time.
Thanks for that xx
