Non medicinal remedies to ease headaches??

Hi you lovely people

I have had a horrendous headache going on 3 days now. I know it’s likely caused by the medication following my FET (OTD is one day away!). I am well hydrated, and not particularly anxious. Any tips for easing it that don’t involve painkillers?

Thanks so much

Lx

Hi there! I know how you feel about not wanting to take anything but I’d say if the headache has persisted that long it might be better to take two paracetamol - I know from my cycles that it’s completely fine to take, and it’ll be better all round I think than being in constant discomfort. However you could also try acupuncture (a reputable one, telling them where you are in your treatment cycle)? There are other things like head massage and the herbal/natural remedies you roll on your temples but as I don’t know whether they’re ok during IVF I won’t recommend those just in case... someone else might know if they’re ok though?

Lots and lots of luck for test day! Xx

Where would I get that, does it have to be a health shop or do any of the major supermarkets sell it? What do you do with it? Thanks!

I sometimes get killer headaches and find that having a hot bath and lying with my head under the water so that its over my eyes usually helps me - leave your nose sticking out the water obviously....no drowing yourself please Lol. Just lie and try to relax like that. I would normally take painkillers before hand though, paracetamol is ok to take though that doesnt do much for me. Oh the girl above Ash2016 just mentioned tiger balm....I find that helps me too after the bath. Hope you're feeling better soon!xx

Thank you lovely! A bath does normally help me but I can’t really take hot baths just now and would rather not lie in luke-warm water. I get migraines before AF normally, so worried it’s low progesterone but I can’t see that being the case, between the Cyclogest and my additional injections. I’ll try get hold of the tiger balm! xx

Oh of course....damn it how stupid of me........duh! How about a hot water bottle at the back of your neck? Tiger balm defo worth a shot! I get the hormonal headaches/migranes too, pain in the bottom. Fingers crossed the headache is a good sign.xx

Have you tried a 4head stick?

Feels like the 4Head stick is helping a little! Can’t believe I didn’t think of this, think I used the strips in previous cycles too x

Might sound crazy but every evening I get a headache and sometimes mygraine. I get a scarf and I wrap it round my head like Rambo pull it as tight as I can bare and keep it like that till Hubby's home and gives my head and neck the best massage . It helps so much. Think I'll look into that 4head too

Wishing you so much luck for tomorrow 💝😘💝

The 4Head is helping a bit so far, very soothing. There’s strips and a rub stick. The strips are a bit of a faff, and if in work may not want one of them stuck to your head! But the rub is really easy and it started to work within 10 mins x

Bit late on the reply -

Hopefully your 4head sticks work!

But for future - magnesium is brilliant for headaches- works as a muscle and nerve relaxant so very good for migraines in particular.

Also if headaches related to AF and cycles magnesium helps massively with it and also proven for period cramps also. Works as good as ibuprofen
