Hi all,

Feeling nervous about our first EC tomorrow...how long did you take off work? I teach 5 year olds so very busy and stressful! Any advice to make me feel better would be appreciated!

Thanks! X

Hey Rachwithers,

I was lucky as mine was on a Friday so had the weekend to recover.. My clinic advised to take the day after off too..

Wishing you luck for tomorrow.. It’s not as bad as you think and is over super quick.. xxx

Hi Rachwithers, EC is actually ok, I really panicked about it but it was fine, the needle was the worst part in my arm, but that's because I hate needles and they can never find a vein in me.

I actually took the whole week off work, I work in a SEN school, so too very stressful and lots of lifting and moving involved. I did feel really tender in my tummy for nearly a week, but found out after I was at risk of OHSS, lots of people seem to b fine a couple if days after, this is just my own story.

Hope it helps and good luck xxxx

Good luck tomorrow you’ll be absolutely fine!!

I intended on going back the day after but I was in quite a bit of pain so took the day off!! I work in a nursery with babies so hard work too like your job!! Lots of lifting for me so found it quite tough going! Especially after transfer xxx

Hey, honestly it’s not that bad I was sedated for mine and although I remember being in the room I don’t remember much about the actual procedure it was over so quick. Lots of luck for tomorrow and remember to rest and drink lots of water after xx

Hey Rach,

Good luck for tomorrow ☘️

It all depends on how you feel but I would recommend a couple of days off after tomorrow to recover and take it all in.

I recovered quicker last year than I did this year so it all depends on your body, how many eggs they get...

Have a nice dinner tonight, and maybe a bath 🛀🏼 (not too hot) if you need to relax xx

I know! Thank you! I was like that yesterday, the call came about 9:20 and I kept asking her to repeat what she was saying as I couldn’t take it in. Hope you haven’t got to wait too long! I have everything crossed for you x

I had mine on a Monday and self certified for the week, could have gone back on the Thursday as I was fully fit again but didn’t want to in case we had a 3dt and had to leave again and get questioned by everyone. All the best for tomorrow x

I also teach 5 year olds and although my egg collection was on a Friday during the Easter holiday, I went back to work on the Monday. I was quite tender for about a week but felt fine at work, just planned my days carefully and asked my ASN to help a bit more if I needed her too (all my colleagues knew about my IVF and were great).

Good luck tomorrow x

Good luck for tomorrow! I work part time so my EC worked well in that I was off for 5 days following it and it was definitely good to relax and do nice things, going for walks, eating out and seeing friends. I had a general anaesthetic for my EC (it's the norm at my old clinc). I didn't feel a thing and only needed my OH to make sure I got home safe. I had no pain or bleeding after. Everyone is different and hopefully you will be pain free xx
