What is this feeling?

β€’8 Replies

OK, I'm the worst worrier going & after my scan went so well last Monday I did calm down a bit. Since Saturday I have had a hard to describe feeling... It's mildly painful & feels as though I have an elastic band around my waist which sometimes tightens. It causes back pain too. It's around the level of my belly button & not constant but I have it alot. I'm pretty gassy ( sorry TMI ) today, is it related? I'm just wondering if others have this feeling before I start freaking myself out, AGAIN! X

I don't know!! It could be bowels, they tend to cause a lot of discomfort and our bowels take up much of our body. Or maybe round ligament pain.. πŸ’™ Xx

Hopefully it is just a bowel issue. Normally I'm fine in that department but have noticed changes now & then lately! Thank you for replying πŸ™‚ x

Hi summer it sounds like it could be related to the gas, I had terrible bloating every day up to week 12 or so which caused all sorts of aches and pains. I think it's a little early for round ligament pain but this tends to be more localised around the abdomen or around the outside of your abdomen (nearer the pubic bone). I know you probably haven't had your first midwife appointment yet but did the gp surgery give you a pack with some numbers in there to call local midwife unit? You could call them for peace of mind if you think it's something worse than gas, also they might give you some tips. If it is gas related my reflexologist suggested the the yoga child pose to (ahem!) release! You can Google the pose, there are loads of videos online. Hope it settles down soon xx

I'll check the information I got from my GP regarding a midwife number. I don't normally ever really have gas problems so don't know how it feels. I will have a look at the yoga poses & give it a go. Thank you so much for that tip, would never have thought of it alone 😘 xx

No worries, I know that feeling - bloating pains can be really scary as can often be very intense. I gave up dairy last year and I never had any after that then started ivf and it hit me like a tonne of bricks. Progesterone has a lot to answer for! Even if that pose doesn't get rid of the gas, I find it very comforting so worth a try. As long as your pains aren't accompanied by any type of bleeding, then it's probably just the joys of pregnancy! 😁 xxx
