Male Factor Infertility

Anyone have husbands with low sperm count and bad morphology due to genetic causes? I feel like all the drs and consultants aren't doing enough and I need to educate myself.

Morning. My husband had normal sperm count, I'd say it was the lower end of normal though and low morphology 2% and motility 15%, that was back in 2012. We both smoked so obviously had to give that up, anyway fast forward 6 years and it still didn't happen naturally, however, my husband was a lot healthier. He exercises, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke and we eat fairly healthily. His motility improved to 60% and his morphology 3%, so still low but not as bad. He was told to take vitamin c, selenium and zinc (vit e is good too). We've just done our first round of icsi and I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant... I hope that helps xx

Hi Michelle and thanks for your reply. I think icsi will be our best chance too but I am getting too old for NHS criteria and also need to lose weight first so I am hopong for stories where couples conceive naturally after many years

I am not sure because it varies dependig on area. I am 40 in a few weeks so I have very little time but I plan on asking when I next see the consultant

Mine has low count, motility and morphology but have no idea whether it’s down to genetic causes. We had ICSI. Out of the 9 eggs that fertilised 4 made it to blasto. One was top grade and successful, 2 were ok but not successful (1 CP, 1 BFN) and 1 is a good grade but Day 6 and we are just about to start FET cycle to transfer that one so fingers crossed. My consultant said he things the 2 that failed failed because of embryo quality but didn’t say whether caused by eggs or sperm. But either way I guess it goes to show that even if you have loads of poor quality embryos 1 of them could just be the one which makes it.
