Hi, I had my egg collection on Friday morning and was told by the nurse to start my cyclogest pessaries on Sunday morning which I did. This morning after inserting one I had quite a bit of brown discharge. I have seen on here that others have had this when using them vaginally but I was told to use them rectally.
Also had some stomach cramps so just wondering if it's all related to the cyclogest?

The brown discharge could just be some blood from the procedure working it’s way out after egg collection. If you’re worried give your clinic a call.
I have been on cyclogest for a couple of months now and it plays havoc with my guts, and particularly at first I had terrible constipation which made me feel quite ill. So make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids and getting lots of fibre to help things along. This happens because progesterone relaxes the muscle of the bowel and basically slows everything down. Prune juice helped me.
Hi, thank you for responding, I called my clinic this morning so am feeling a bit better about things but definitely bloated so may have yo get myself some prune juice. Hope all is ok with you xx
Hi jm82. Depends where the brown discharge is coming from. if it is vaginally, then it could just be some old blood leftover from procedures you've been through. Unless it is smelly, hopefully it will clear up on its own. You will get a bit of leakage via your back passage, from a little leftover pessary. No need t worry about that,as enough of the progesterone will have been absorbed within 20-30 minutes of insertion. Hope all goes well for you. Diane
