Hi All

I have my first scan today ready to start my injections in preparation for round 2 of icsi. So after a failed round 1 I questioned what else I could do and came across a few articles on acupuncture.

As a lot of you will know -on the long protocol you have a down reg injection on day 21 and then need to have a period and a scan before starting the daily injections.

I was panicking my period hadn’t come and I had my first appointment with an acupuncturist on Friday. She went through my history, where I was on this cycle and then said she would do some treatment to bring on my period and get a ‘good flow and flush out’ ready to start injections. This was 5pm Friday. Woke up Saturday to my period.

I know this could be a coincidence but I’m going to take it and thought it was worth posting.

I know it’s not going to be my miracle cure but every little glimmer of hope helps in this journey-right?

I don’t think it can hurt and even if it’s a good placebo effect it’s worth it!! I’ve had friends it’s worked and not worked for including myself but as the saying goes ‘anyone can paint but there are few artists’ Many top Consultants recommend it and it certainly helps with blood flow, it helped increase my lining a few times too. Good luck!! Xxx

I definitely think acupuncture works. I did acupuncture my first two rounds to help with blood flow in the uterus to help with llining development and my lining was high as 13 and I think just over 12 in the second on days of transfer. My third round I opted out because I felt it was helping too much, and my lining came back at just 10 which my doctor said was the perfect number. There was no change in medical protocol so I can only believe it was the acupuncture.

I think what acupuncture does is help with concentrating blood flow to help movement in the uterus. I would call a fertility acupuncturist and speak to them and see if acupuncture is for you and during what phase of ivf or they may recommend throughout the process. Best of luck xx

Hi Sharon175. Acupuncture is definitely a good idea to get good blood flow to the womb lining before treatment, which it seems it was good for you. Just wanted to wish you well with it all, and of course for success. Diane

My periods were a bit scatty, and as soon as I did acupuncture they regulated to every 29 days. I could set my watch by it! I was amazed it had this effect 😊 Good luck with your treatment xxx

I didn’t do acupuncture during my first round (bfn) but I did during my FET (twice on transfer day) and I’ll be 21 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Obviously it could just be a coincidence but I feel that it definitely helped! Xxx best of luck!
