Birth control pill before ivf

Hi

I had the birth control pill before ivf but I never had any other tablets etc overlapping it at the end and I can't help thinking this has affected my response to the stimulation.

Anyone else on the bcp before ivf? What did u all have to take?

Hi Clairet1987 I was on bc pill before for the month leading up to stimms and I thought the same. I had fewer follicles than during a natural cycle?! I don’t know. I honk if I were to do it again, I would probably not have the pill. X

*think* not honk(!) thanks auto correct!

I agree. I asked about it before this round and they just said it’s what they do as they need to ‘control’ the cycle. I explained that my cycles were really regular, to the exact day but they said to still take it.

I ended up having to extend the time I was on the pill by an extra week due to the timing of appointments and am convinced this affected the number of follicles.

I was the same I ended up being on the pill for over 40 days before the ivf started as I had to keep taking it till we arrived in Spain. But I just kept thinking how Can it work if your trying to stop it one day then stimulating a few days later your body must be sooo confused. I had 11 follicles but only got 4 eggs only 1 of them fertilised hmmmm xxx

I was on the pill for about a week before I started my cycle. We wanted to use the embryoscope but AF started a week early and it was booked up so I went on it to push the start of my cycle back by a week so I could use it. My clinic said they regularly put people on it for a few days so they they can time EC to be the beginning of the week rather than the end of the week (the logic being that if they need a couple more days of stimming EC is less likely to get pushed back to fall on a weekend).
