Does any one have any tips for a diet clense before starting IVF. We are on the waiting list for when the clinic reopens. We have a daughter already thanks to IVF and want to try for a sibling? I havent been eating as well as i should and want to get a head start. Thank you xx

I have had a similar thought recently as about to start my fifth round but let myself go a bit. Anyway there is a great fertility network webcast on YouTube that talks a lot about nutrition before ivf and I found it really eye opening x

Hi MrsR. A good diet to follow would be: Carbohydrates - Wholegrain bread and wholemeal pasta, oatmeal, brown rice. All fresh vegetables especially raw or steamed. Over boiling rids them of vitamins and minerals, pineapple juice, apricots, potatoes, all fruit and honey, beans, chickpeas and lentils. Protein - Organic meat if possible, poultry, fish, Milk and hard cheese, nuts and seeds. Fat - Extra virgin olive oil and sunflower oil, avocado and peanut butter, mackerel, sardines, nuts (especially Brazil and walnuts), seeds, sweet corn and sweet potatoes. The things to avoid are too much sugar, processed foods, ready meals, butter, ice cream etc. A little is OK, but not all the time. Drink plenty of water and only a little tea and coffee if feeling deprived. Cut right down or right out – alcohol and smoking. Oh and don’t forget the Folic Acid and Vitamin D! Hope this helps and all the best with the IVF. Diane

Sorry to jump on this thread, I'm currently taking inofolic alpha and have been thinking whether I need to be taking vitamin d too.

Could you tell me what the benefit is of taking vitamin d supplement and also what dosage should this be? Thank you x

Hi. Yes, you need 10 micro grams of Vitamin D a day for healthy teeth and bones and for baby when pregnant. Normally got from 20 minutes exposure to the sun, but with lockdown and sunscreen creams we don’t get so much. Diane
