Freeze all....

Has anybody had experience of a high no. of follicles (resulting in a high number of eggs - hopefully) and not ended up in a ‘freeze all’...

I may be headed that way and finding it tough to get my head around it (even though I know it’s only what’s best for me) x

No idea how many follicles I had but I ended up with about 26 eggs. They did warn me there might be a possibility of freezing all, but was monitored very closely for OHSS and ended up having a successful transfer day 5.

I think you’re right though, if it’s the best option for you at the time you’re better off freezing them and having your transfer when your body has recovered. I know how tough it can be to realise that you might have to wait even longer. Good luck with your cycle x

I was in so much pain and my womb lining was too poor to go ahead and as we wanted genetic testing we had to freeze anyway. I waited until my next cycle and had a successful FET (unfortunately for me I had to have an ERPC at 14 weeks but the transfer itself was a success). I had 29 eggs and 20 fertilised (7 made it to 5 day blastocysts and 2 of the 7 were normal)

I did a fresh transfer my first cycle despite high eggs. This time round they did freeze all. I was terrified in case they didn't make it to freezing stage but it was fine. And i did get ohss so am very glad we did freeze all, I was in horrible pain and so bloated and i can't imagine that lasting 3 months if I was pregnant. My doctor said that there is evidence now that freezing can be a better option because the uterine lining is more receptive than straight after egg collection. So try not to worry, there are positive things about both options.

I got 25 eggs on my second ivf round & we didn’t end up needing a freeze all. I had a 5 day transfer & currently have a nearly 16 week old baby girl xx
