IVF egg collection infection?

Did anyone get an infection? I am in hospital right now and there is talks of removing my Fallopian tube as it is swollen. Praying the antibiotics work!!!

I haven’t contacted my IVF clinic yet- I was experiencing pain and had funny smelling wee TMI I know!!! And they put it down to my stage iv endometriosis and gave me antibiotics as a precaution.

After three days of waking up in pain. I went to A&E. Now the only thing that stops my pain is Morphine and I am having IV antibiotic drips!

I knew IvF was going to be a challenge but not this Much!

Anyone else experience this??

I got an infection after my last EC, experienced similar symptoms to you. After 3 days of being in hospital on anti biotics and them monitoring my input and output, I had a scan which showed I could go home on anti biotics. Hope your feeling better soon xx

Hi Minchoo. So sorry you are having problems, but however annoying, best to sort before proceeding with a treatment cycle. If you have a hydrosalpinx, then as there is a possibility of excess lubrication in that tube spilling into the womb and preventing possible implantation of a developing embryo, they will probably advise clipping or removing it. Not nice to think about, but it would be in your best interest. Hope all goes well with whatever is decided. Thinking of you. Diane

Thanks Diane I am going to remove all the endo and lesions and have cysts removed. Including my tubes out. Will then continue iVF once I am recovered.

Hi Minchoo. Such a lot to sort out, a complete tidy up! However, I feel it will all be worth while, and I’m sure you will bounce back and into your IVF before you know it. So,proud of you poppet, and I send you all my best wishes for a speedy recovery. You have all the lovely ladies here supporting you too. Diane

Thank you Diane. I have been in touch with a BGSE consultant today. I will hopefully meet her next week and get the ball rolling on my care.

Will DM you - but it is a reputable company. Very much so!! I do have endometriosis, so May have had some cyst leakage and infection.

You poor thing! I’m so glad you got antibiotics right from the start and I’m keeping fingers crossed that they will work. Do contact your ivf clinic, hopefully they can talk to the consultant you’re under now to make sure you get the best possible care xx

Thanks Lizzie, yes definitely so. Will contact them. The antibiotics didn’t work but the IV antibiotics seem to have done the trick!!!

Yeah I will. They will no doubt put it down to my endo. But I know the Antibiotics I am having are working. As I am only on paracetamol to treat the pain and I was on morphine when I came in!! So definitely a infection - and a severe one at that.
