This is my first cycle of IVF. The last 12 months have been a roller coaster but now here i am in the hospital waiting for my egg collection op at 11am. Its amazing how you can feel so many emotions all at the one time. I'm nervous, excited, apprehensive & a bit scared but most of all I'm feeling hopeful. I have 12 follicles (5 left, 7 right) but I have a cyst (endometrioma) in my left ovary that might mean they can't get to the follicles on the left side. Fingers crossed all goes well. As my surgeon said today 'quality, not quantity'
Egg Collection Day...: This is my first... - Fertility Network UK
Egg Collection Day...
Hope everything went well today Hun. X
I had the same emotions in February-it's one of most challenging things to go through! You only need one good one - defo quality over quantity 😊 I got 8 eggs, all fertilised and three got through to day 5...I'm 8 weeks pregnant - it can work 👍👍 x
Congratulations Cal79 that's fab news Was that your first go at ivf? How did you feel after your egg collection? I feel quite sick tonight so I'm hoping this feeling doesn't last too long x x
It was my first IVF cycle so I'm over moon thank you 😊 I felt crappy for few days after egg collection, ended up taking the week off work which also meant I could easily get the telephone daily updates from the fertility unit. I tried to keep sane by walking for 40 mins each day, I read it's good to keep the blood flowing to the uterus especially after egg transfer 👍 I found it tough on the dreaded 2 week wait, try to keep seeing friends etc as it makes time go quicker & helps your mental health. It's a tough process from start to finish but it can work - keep believing x
That's amazing your first cycle was successful, I'm so pleased for you 😊I'm not feeling great today so I'm having another rest day. Went out to the supermarket earlier and felt quite ill 😯 Thanks for the tip re keeping the blood flowing after the transfer x x
Thank u 😊 just listen to your body & if u need to relax do it-keep yourself in a nice calm zone so your 'embie' has a nice environment to nest in. I think the hormones make u feel crappy, I'm just knackered & queezy now but very happy 😃 roll on 12 weeks 🙏 keep us posted on developments x
Hi noodles it most definitely is quality over quantity we got 5 eggs 4 fertalized 2 stopped developing i had two top quality and offered me a day 3 transfer with one of them i asked to wait until day 5 and by day 5 one of my top quality eggs hadn't developed any more so we had the 1 top one left out of 5 im 6 weeks pregnant today! I felt quite sore after my egg collection took me a few days to feel normal ! Very gassy too ! 😯 but made it all worth wile fingers crossed this super egg makes it all the way !!! This was our 1st ever go on ivf on nhs and only go we were allowed! Good luck and baby dust xxx
Aw that's fab news herrys. Congratulations! Have you got a date for your scan yet? I just find the whole process amazing and when you get a result like yours it's definitely worthwhile. The hospital called me this morning to say that 3 out of the 5 eggs collected yesterday have fertilised nicely and that my embryo transfer will either be tomorrow or Monday. It's sooooo exciting x x
Aw thanks ☺ I bet you just wish you could fast forward to your scan to see that wee heartbeat 💜 x x
