Threatened miscarriage update

So I had my scan this morning and it’s good news. Baby was alive, heartbeat going and right size for 8 weeks. They saw a 1.8cm area of blood in my uterus. They said to me it was too small to harm baby. They said the brown blood I’ve been having for a week was from that. They said it will drain off or my body will absorb it. They said not to worry unless it turns to red and I get pain. Obviously I’m still concerned, I’m worried the blood area will get bigger, I’m worried it’ll turn to red, I’m just worried until it stops. Even though the doctor, sonographer and 2 midwives tried to reassure me, I’m still worried. Has anyone else had this pocket of blood found on a scan? I think they called it a heamatoma. (Sorry bad spelling ) I’m relieved a bit but don’t feel out of the woods yet.

No advice but glad all is well. There's others on here that have had similar. Try relax now easier said than done I know 😘💗

I did. I can’t remember how big it was but it seemed quite large on my ultrasound picture. I’d had a big bleed at 6 weeks and 6+4 which was bright red and lots of clots and carried on bleeding brown blood until 10 weeks. It was scary but it was all gone by my 12 week scan and there was no explanation for it xx

That must of been incredibly difficult to go through. I've only had a little brown blood, and they said the amount they could see in scan was quite small. I'm hoping everything will be ok.

I was bleeding brown up until I was 9w6d and had 5 scans at EPU during that time. All turned out ok and I have a 6 month old. I know quite a few ladies at my Mum group had bleeds and some pretty significant red ones and babies all ok xx

I bleed for 3 weeks some brown some bright red, and everything was fine. Easier said than done but try not to worry xxx

I have a haematamoa too- a sub chorionic bleed they call it sometimes. Mine is a lot larger than yours at 6cm and I have had three large bleeds with it pouring out and have bled brown/dark red ever since. I have been to the epu every other week to check on the size and it grew last time so I am hoping by Friday it may have shrunk 🤞

I’ve been told it’s common (although mine is considered large) and your body will reabsorb it or bleed out. I’ve read that these do not actually increase risks of miscarriage. I’ve been told mine may be here through all of my pregnancy and all you can do is take one day at a time. As the sac grows it should push out the bleed!

My baby is fine and growing as it should I am 10 weeks tomorrow xxx

In so glad your baby is well. I've tried not to Google it because I'm a natural worrier anyway and I can easily drive myself mad! Did they tell you to bed rest of anything? They didn't tell me anything, just carry on as normal.

I am a worrier too and google lots when I shouldn’t but I’ve actually found it’s calmed me down as 99% of the stories are successful stories.

I’ve calmed myself down as when I bleed there’s no cramping and no clots it’s literally just like water coming out (sorry tmi) and the brown mainly comes out when I wee.

They said no to bed rest as there’s actual research that says it doesn’t help and they would worry more about dvt etc.

I am carrying on as normal but not lifting anything heavy, no exercise and unfortunately no sex! My poor hubby lol.

I would keep calling your epu for scans as your bleeding just for reassurance.

It’s horrible, takes so much to get here then you bleed. But I’ve seen three different doctors and they have all said it’s common and not to panic. Xx

Thank you. They have booked me in for a scan in two weeks (week10) and then I'll have my dating scan (week 12). I'm hoping and praying for us that everything will be ok.

I didn’t get a reason for my bleeding but I had it till about 10 weeks and all went fine. So glad to read that you got to see the heartbeat I’ll be thinking of you and hoping for a smooth pregnancy from here on x

Dont worry!! My sister and a few of my friends had the same thing during pregnancy! It's very common apparently, and should fade away in due time. Stay positive, I'm sure you will be fine and so will the baby! Sending prayers Kathryn1984
