After several days of spotting and cramps I’ve never been so pleased about my period starting as it means I can finally get started on taking Clomid!
Just wondering if anyone is/has been in the same situation (I have polycystic ovaries and very irregular cycles). Would love to hear about your experiences, success stories and tips!
Wishing everyone lots of luck x

I took clomid for 7 months unfortunately it wasn’t successful for me but I do have 2 friends that both have healthy babies thanks to it. I took mine at night which helped with the side affects - hot sweats and headaches mainly. Wishing you lots of luck x
Hello, thanks for replying and telling me about your experience and that of your friends. I’d heard about taking the Clomid at night... first dose tomorrow so keeping fingers crossed. Hope you’re doing ok 😃 x
I took it for 6 months (have PCOS too). Unfortunately it wasn’t successful for me but my friend who took it got her BFP after just one month (she suffers from endometriosis). Clomid made me very depressed - got worse as the months went on but as soon as I stopped taking it I was back to my normal self. Another friend who took it for 6 months just had the hot sweats with it so think everyone is different. Good luck! Xxx
Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear that the Clomid not only caused you depression but also didn’t work... Good that it worked for your friend, though - have read about a few different side effects so think I’ll take it just before bed so I’ll hopefully sleep through any I have! Many congratulations on your pregnancy 😃 x
I was on clomid for two months for low AMH levels and it was unsuccessful as I wasn’t ovulating either and our consultant said IVF was the best option for me so I did the first cycle last October/November and I’m currently 23 weeks and 4 days pregnant xxxx
Thanks for your reply. I have a scan booked for Tuesday so we will see what they say about how the Clomid has worked, fingers crossed it’s done the trick! Many congratulations on your pregnancy, that’s lovely news 😃 x
My best advice would be to take it in the morning . It made me extremely moody and gave me headaches but without it and metformin I wouldn’t have my daughters now x
Thanks for your reply and congratulations on your pregnancy and lovely girls! Can I just ask why you’d advise taking Clomid in the morning if it had the side effects you mentioned? I was thinking night time would be better to try and sleep through any side effects? Also, did you have Metformin at the same time as Clomid? Is it more effective this way? Thanks 😃
Thanks for your reply! I took the last of the five tablets tonight. I haven’t felt that well this week but might just be illness rather than side effects (have cold and sore throat). Have felt a bit spaced out a couple of times, had headaches and been really thirsty during the night though which I guess could be related. Have you had side effects? I have a scan booked for Tuesday to see how the meds are working. Hopeful all will be fine and we can start trying soon! Has seemed like a really long time since getting polycystic ovary diagnosis, waiting for period to start Clomid etc... Keeping my fingers crossed for you x
