Health advice following EC

Hey ladies

Sorry TMI

I had my egg collection on Tuesday they took 15, but the evening of EC day I was in a lot of pain felt really bruised and vomiting the morning after had really bad diarrhea other than that was feeling ok apart from the cramps. Spoke to the clinic and they just said to keep an eye on it and see how I feel. Today I had diarrhea again this morning but had been fine all day the pain has eased when I am in a relaxed position but still feels bruised when I move (i also feel I have done a bit to much, driving, walking etc today) the clinic have discussed about freezing the embryos and starting again when things improve (this is the first funded think there are two cycles funded in total) this evening I had a bath and moved in an awkward position to fast and forgot I was not able to move that quick. Since then my stomach has slightly swelled not much but I'm also slim so it would not be very noticeable anyway so I really can't tell as I have also been drinking a lot more water, it's also quite hard but no pain when I touch it.

Anyway, I am just wondering if anyone has had any symptoms like this and how was the outcome? (obviously I know everyone is different) I don't really want to complain to the clinic as I don't want them to delay the process and it turn out to be nothing and just worrying. I have been known to have high hormone levels in my previous pregnancy that ended in ectopic so not sure if it would be linked to developing OHSS?

Any advice would be great

I would take a paracetamol or two and see how you feel tomorrow. If you are still having several episodes of diarrhoea and tummy pain, I would call the clinic. They won’t mind- they would rather see you and it be nothing than you suffering at home. Xxx

Hi Sanmy

I underwent egg collection on Monday also getting 15 eggs.

Since then I have had severe bloating and have been majorly uncomfortable feeling every step as I walk etc. As though I have had severe trapped wind but with fluid.

I ended up phoning the clinic yesterday to see if there was anything else I could do to help the pain. I was taken in and given a scan and some bloods taken. Said there was some ovarian hyperstimulation going on (I have a high AMH so was a higher risk) they have advised to take on minimum 3l of water a day and paracetamol. I have also been trying to go some short walks to keep the circulation going. I had gone back to work Tuesday but have called it a day today as egg transfer hopefully tomorrow.

They have advised that if I am any worse they will freeze the embryos until my body settles down which obviously I am keen to avoid.

Not much help but just wanted you to know someone else in your position 😊

Hi, I was very sore after egg collection and very swollen, don't forget even though they took 15 ready eggs there is also still a lot of follicles still very large that will take a few days to calm down. You have had an op that used to be done with 3 incisions to the abdomen just cause you can't see the wounds they are there . Take care and rest up , good luck for transfer xx

I feel pretty similar! I’m day 3 after egg collection and surprised how sore I still feel.

They got 11 eggs but I had around 15 follicles of which 2 were huge.

I’ve had all the symptoms you’ve described in the same order as you! I stupidly thought I was ok Weds (I feel better in the mornings) and carried a couple of slightly heavy shopping bags. And then regretted it massively in the evening.

Feeling so tender in my lower abdomen and groin areas. And so bloated!! But relieved that I’ve finally been able to go to the toilet 😬. My tummy looks slightly bloated but not too bad.

I’m due ET Sunday and just hoping I feel better by then 🤞🤞. So worried it will impact the transfer!?

Paracetamol does help and I’m trying to drink 3L’s per day.

Maybe I just need to be more patient and kind to myself. I’m terrible at doing nothing 😝.

Hope you feel better soon xx

I also had my EC on Tuesday, I’ve had constant cramp ever since.

Not just any old cramp but doubled over cramps. I’ve also had bowel issues but the other way, I can’t go. I was sick yesterday morning but not sure if that wasn’t to do with the pain. I’ve been drinking loads of water which I was told to do but that just hurts my tummy. The worst for me through are the pessaries. I put 2 in on a night and a couple of hours later I’m having to get up to go for a wee and have terrible thrush symptoms and bleeding.

Not really any advice but at least you know you’re not alone. Good luck for Sunday. Xx
