Pain after EC?

Is it normal to still be in quite a lot of pain, sore and really bloated after EC? I had it on Friday? I don’t remember it hurting this much on my first round. The pain is going round to my back and hurting especially on my right side? I don’t want to be dramatic and ring the clinic if it’s normal?

Also keep getting like a wave of pain in my tummy (similar to when you have diarhorrea sorry TMI) and pain when passing urine xxx

The pain a couple of days after the EC is somewhat normal and need not necessarily be the case with every EC. The description of the pain doesn't seems out of the normal one, my pains around my ovaries usually radiate to my lower back even the menstrual pains. However, the intensity of your pain will decide if you really need to call the clinic or not. IVF is a very medically advanced procedure and therefore a trigger here and there can ultimately sum up to some problem at a later stage. I follow the thumb rule - If it's bearable it's fine, if it does not, seek clinical help... even if it turns out to be nothing serious.

I think you should ring your clinic for sure x

I was uncomfortable for about 4 days after and was more to my left side as I had more follicles on that side. I wouldn’t say I ever worried about it being abnormal though and trust your gut. If you feel the need to ask then I’d say have a chat with your clinic. Really hope you feel better soon Xx

Hi, I had pains for a few days but eased each day. I think if you’re worried you should call the clinic. They wouldn’t mind even if it was a query you felt was minor. That’s what they are there for. And to put your mind at rest. Take care x

Some of your symptoms like pain when passing urine sound like you may have OHSS. Drink lots of water every day and phone the clinic would be my advice x

Hi lianm8. Sadly this sometimes does happen. Make sure you drink plenty of water and take regular paracetamol, unless something has been prescribed for you. No anti-inflammatories and rest when you can. Just watch your urine output, that it is pale in colour and any breathlessness you must be seen. Hope it soon eases, probably your ovaries still being a bit active. Thinking of you. Diane

Hi lianm8. A bit won't have done any harm, but no more please as it can harm baby's heart valves if all goes well for you. Diane
