Which is Day 1?

Questions I should know the answer but I’m really confused by my clinic....

If you’re heading to a Day 5 transfer... or Day 3 for that matter... which is Day 1? The day of fertilisation or the day after?

Google is just confusing me! x

I thought so. My clinic told me today they were planning a day 5 transfer. But I’m physically not in the country long enough! 🙄😕😢 x

Ahhh flip sakes!!😕😥 Hopefully they have a back up plan....maybr a 4 day transfer and freeze what's left?!xxx

I just thought they might make an exception. God damn it, why is nothing straight forward?! Maybe do a day 3 and take the others to day 5 so see what they want to freeze?! Get on the email and make sure they know your departure date & time hun!xx

I’ve emailed twice today since the discovery. Now I feel robbed of a 5 day transfer! Haha. But there’s nothing to say they’d get there I guess. Ffs. Stressful?! xx

Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realise it was today. Glad you have something back, remember if they were gonna make day 5 outside you then they’ll make it inside you too. Good luck xx

Day after day 0 is egg collection and ICSI

Day 0 is the day of egg collection and day one is the day after, the day you usually get the fertilisation call.

E.g. egg collection Monday - day 0

Fertilisation call Tuesday - day 1

Day 3 transfer would be the Thursday.

Day 5 would be the Saturday (not that I’ve ever made it that far!)

Day 0 is the day they collect the eggs from you or donor put with sperm.

Day 1 you will get an update email which will tell you number of eggs fertilised and mature

Day 2 a further update on how they are progressing

Day 3 a further update

Day 4 no email this is the crucial day this is when they see how the sperm effects the eggs

Day 5 is when they reach Blasocyst and transfer

You should be told to arrive at your clinic 24 hours before if going for a day 5 to be ready to arrive st clinic for next morning and safe to fly home 24 hours later.

Yep. You’re all over it! I knew this was true. Just couldn’t work out how they were planning a 5 day transfer if egg collection is Monday and I fly home Friday?! Sheeesh... and I love this clinic! 😜 x

Egg collection (or fertilisation) is Day 0 so you count from the day after x

If it helps I had a day 4 transfer with my now almost 3 year old daughter
