My partner & I have embarked on donor egg IVF. Following our latest attempt resulting in a blighted ovum the clinic have suggested my partner takes Prednisilone & or Humira. I know these drugs seem to have a sensible rationale for being offered but studies seem limited. Have any of you had experience of donor egg cycles on either & what do you think about any possible risks of use? We have had 2 donor attempts thus far.
Hiya, we have had one donor egg cycle which was not a success. We had very poor thaw rate of our vitrified eggs and we failed to achieve pregnancy despite having had two embryos transferred, one good, one average. We have significant male factor issues too so we are now exploring the possibility of using of donor sperm too. I am not familiar with the drugs your partner has been recommended so cannot offer any advice.
Ive had a few failed OE transfers and we moved onto DE and have one failed transfer under our belts now. Ive since had a hysteroscopy under GA in Greece and they removed some thick tissue that they thought was causing failed implantation and lining issues for me. They also did a whole raft of bloods for me and Im having intralipids (for slightly raised NK cells), clexane and a whole raft of vitamins for my next transfer. I have heard of Humira, my understanding is that its used for immune issues - Cytokines. "Humira is a drug that was designed to block TNFalpha in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It is used by some fertility doctors to reduce elevated TNFa detected in the blood or uterine NK cells (CD57+) detected by uterine biopsy (which are both associated with a lower chance of live birth)". I also think its quite expensive but your clinic will keep you right on that one. From what Ive read Intralipids are also used for this but obviously you would have to ask clinic re this depending on your levels. Cant help with the side effects as Ive never had it. Thank you. We are both still reeling & still waiting for the inevitable miscarriage as there is no embryo. We both are grateful that there are others out there willing to share their knowledge to help us think about where we go from here.

Well I'm honestly not that much help but at least it will give you something to focus your research on. Im a bit of a googler and after habing failed cycles ive been googling even more! I do think asking the clinic regarding intralipids is an option too....its an expense but not as much as the humira. All I suggest is to quiz the clinic, ask heaps of questions....thats what you're paying for!! So sorry for your loss. I had a early miscarriage it’s truly awful.
I took prednisone when I was pregnant and I had no ill side effects from it.
Can’t comment on donor eggs but hopefully others can advise you on that.
