Weird Periods

I waited for what seemed like an eternity for my first AF after my miscarriage in Jan. It took 6 weeks and 6 days to finally arrive! I then had a very short 3 day period (heavy ish, but then just suddenly stopped). Did anyone else have this? I really hope I can have a normal cycle this month so we can try again, but it seems my body is still confused. Anyone else have experience of this & how long did it take for your cycles to go back to normal?

Hi Wishfully. It can take up to 3 months for your periods to return t what is normal for you after suffering a miscarriage. Be patient and try not to worry. Diane

Hi.

I lost a pregnancy very early.

My periods went berserk afterwards but I have endometriosis so it’s hard for me to say if it’s that or my endo.

I ended up writing a letter to my fertility doctor over concerns and he arranged a scan which indicated uterus lining not in uniform - long story cut short he referred me to a general gynaecologist and this Friday I’m having a laparoscopy & hysteroscopy and biopsy and removal of endo if found.

I would definitely contact your fertility doctor ( being honest although GPS are great they are not specialised in women’s health issues) and state your concerns. If they are concerned they will arrange a scan to be sure everything is settling down.

As Diane says it can take a few months to get back to normal and hopefully things will soon settle down for you.

Thank your for your advice Hidden and I’m sorry for your loss. I have some Endo which they spotted last year when I had an ovarian cyst removed, but the doctor didn’t think it was worth treating as it was mild and not causing me discomfort - I’m lucky for that. I go back to speak with the consultant next week, so let’s see what he suggests. Good luck with your laparoscopy, I hope it all works out well for you xx

Hi Wishfully, i also had a mmc in Jan I was 9 weeks but it was at our 12 week scan we found out, so opted for surgery. We decided to start treatment for our Fet straight away. So started the Buserilin on day 21. However my period also didn't arrive. So after 6 weeks i saw my centre and they prescribed me norestrithone to bring it on. So on week 7 it finally started! and was only 4x days stopped for 2x then brown blood for 1x day. So we are now weeks behind where I wanted us to be. However if I hadn't already started my treatment I would have waited for it to happen naturally as I feel like my body has been through so much since we started our last cycle in October. But saying that the doctor said I was fine to start straight away.

Thank you for your reply Becky179 - that’s reassuring, so strange periods are not uncommon with all the hormonal changes I guess. How horrible for you, finding out on your 12 week scan 😢 It’s great that you’ve been able to start again so soon though, I feel like I’ve been waiting for so long for my body to catch up & we are no closer to the goal. Fingers crossed for your FET, I really hope it is good news for you xx

Thankyou very much, I have my scan tomorrow to see if my lining is ready... I'm not feeling hopeful but you never know 😊. It has been a horrible time, but as hard as it is i just have to be positive about things as I could be a lot worse off.
