Weird feeling...

here-_to_get_support profile image

Hey, I wondered if anyone else has a weird feeling about knowing that your eggs are growing in a clinic and you have no control over them and feel kinda protective as those that don't develop are just destroyed..... wasn't prepared for that feeling. P.s. anyone tell me how long post EC and no meds it will take for my boobs to go back to normal? Mine are super sore I struggle to even wash them!!

Yeah it’s a strange feeling isn’t it? But also really amazing! My boobs are still incredibly sensitive and swollen and I had EC on Tuesday. How did you find the procedure?

The procedure itself was fine, I was heavily sedated so don't remember anything. Very sore afterwards, but finally managed to have a wee today without feeling like my insides would drop out! They managed to take 17 eggs, 13 were good enough to use and 9 fertilized. I know that's a good number but we have to get them to day 5, then they go off for testing. I'm so worried that I will be left with none, or they will be carriers of the genetic condition and by law we have to use those ones so they will end up in the same position as me! xx

That’s great! Try not to worry too much, I know that’s easier said than done but it’s out of your hands now x

My boobs started to ease once I started to use the pessaries. Still a bit sore but not nearly as ‘full’ as they was.

Good luck on your journey xx

Hi Here-_to_get_support. Not weird at all. People call out to their developing embryos and even their frozen embryos as they pass the clinic. They are your potential babies, so you can't help but feel attached. As for boobs, they have a mind of their own. Hopefully they will settle down soon and won't feel so sore. Good luck! Diane

Yes I found it quite a strange thought to imagine our "babies" were growing in a petri dish somewhere. Thinking about the fact my son was once frozen is even more overwhelming! Ivf really is an amazing thing.

Best of luck on your cycle!

I even wanted to move closer to the hospital were our frozen embryos are waiting for future rounds lol Yes, I too feel a bit crazy with these weird feelings sometimes. As for boobs, mine were really big by EC time and continued like that for a while, same as my belly which looked like I was 4 months pregnant on EC already ...
