Take some painkillers at least half an hour before you have it done

Take strong painkillers an hour before you go. Take a panty liner or towel with you and try to relax. You'll be fine!! Best of luck xx

I agree take pain killers before you go, it’s a little uncomfortable but over quite quickly. Good luck x

I took ibuprofen and a paracetamol 45 mins before. I took deep breaths, it sort of helped. Squished the nurses hand too lol. It's basically like the worst period pain ever. But it only lasts like 20-30 seconds then it's just a bit sore after. I had a hot water bottle after too. Hope that helps. Good luck!!

Thanks kittyk. I’m sure it will be over quickly thank goodness. X

I had mine today! 😬 Was much better than my last one where they had to use a cervical clip. To avoid that happening again, I was told to come with a full bladder - seemed to work as it went much more smoothly this time and much, much less pain. Might be something to consider, though it could be that that won’t be a problem for you anyway. The other thing I’d say is although it’s painful, it only lasts a few seconds - take deep breaths and count down! As long as you take painkillers before and after you’ll be fine. Good luck! xxx

Hiya, I was nervous too beforehand but I needn’t have been. It was more uncomfortable than sore and it was over so quickly. I agree with Cinderella, strong painkillers half an hour before, I found them so much better than plain old paracetamol. I also found during the scratch it helped to do some subtle breathing exercises and relax into it. I think if you’re tense, things like that hurt more.

Also as PPDo says, you could take something sugary with you as it isn’t uncommon to feel a wee bit lightheaded afterwards.

Best of luck today xx

Hiya I have had three endo scratches and endo lining material removed for testing on two occasions.

I am also going for an endo scratch again on Friday.

Take some good strong painkillers 30 mins to 1 hour before the procedure.

Take a panty liner as well. I did not have much bleeding afterwards just a tiny bit of spotting.

It is over quickly so focus on your breathing and try to relax.

OH and you can have a rant if you want to!!!!!

That made me laugh. Thank you. I was breathing quite well which helped!! I know everyone is different so it was good being prepared xx

When I had it done the nurse was talking to me all the way from taking me through from the ward to the theatre room and throughout the procedure, obviously trying to keep me distracted!! As others have said painkillers a while beforehand. It’s over and done with very quickly. Just keep thinking it’s worthwhile doing for the time it takes to have it done. Hope all goes well. 😀
