Hi all, I’m booked in for my endometrial scratch next week.
Can anyone give me an insight as to what to expect ? (My clinic are sending me details but would like to hear personal experiences too). Am I ok to drive afterwards?
Thanks x

Hi I had one a few weeks ago!!!
I was nervous as I didn’t no what to expect!!
I’m not gonna say it doesn’t hurt (cause it did) but the pain was over in seconds.
You’ll be fine, just take some paracetamol before you go!
Good luck xx
I’ve had three. The first one was actually fine, a bit uncomfortable but over very quickly. The next two were painful but again didn’t last long at all. Make sure you have a reasonably full bladder as it really helps make it easier and quick. You will be absolutely fine, promise xx
Hey hun could you ask your clinic for gas and air? I did and the pain wasn't that bad and your zonked out lol x
Thank you, I haven’t thought about that? I think the build up is probably worse than the procedure.
I guess if I was to ask for gas and air I won’t be able to drive afterwards... x
Hi Pip89,
I had my ES done this morning.
The whole procedure took about 5min with the scratch itself lasting for about 30sec or so in the end. I had painful spasms during the scratching which lasted only for a few seconds and period like cramps for a few more minutes afterwards.
As advised by the nurse I took a couple of paracetamols an hour before the procedure and used a sanitary pad afterwards as I spotted lightly. Only thing I wish I had done was I had worn a loose cotton top layered with a thin jumper which can be taken out easily if needed instead of a thick tunic jumper as it made me easily sweat with pain and also the room being warm din't help much either.
Having said that I was back to normal in abt 20min (no pain no sweat whatsoever) running up the escalator to catch my train.
You'll be perfectly fine and should be OK to drive afterwards I suppose. Best of luck with your journey.
Thank you Ninirk, that’s very reassuring. Wishing you all the best! Have you got an idea of when you’ll be starting? And is it your first try?? X
I had mine on Saturday. It was quite painful but,as the others have said, over in about 10 seconds. It's like a very intense cramping. The cramping was over within 10 minutes and I was able to resume normal activities, even driving. I barely had any spotting but wore a towel just in case and took paracetamol an hour before. Good luck xx
Thanks lovely, good luck to you!! X
