Hi
Personally I’ve never had it, always worked in the basis if it’s a viable embryo it will implant.
Before you spend your money on scratches and glues, look at the up to date research as these add on’s are not cheap.
When I looked there was actually no evidence to say they worked, and was basically a clinic money making tool
I had a scratch on my last fet which was our 6th attempt, and I am currently 12+1 weeks. Although I also had one on my previous fresh cycle, with 2 good quality embryos transferred which resulted in a bfn 🤷♀️ I just think for me it felt like I was at least throwing everything at this cycle as it was to be my last one. Both times it was suggested by my consultant but fortunately my clinic have never charged for this as an extra. I can’t believe how so many clinics vary in private costs across the country.
Your very lucky if you haven’t been charged. I think my clinic charge in the region of £250 - £300
I read an article where Sir Robert Winston the pioneer of IVF, commented about add ins being money making ventures for clinics
Hi Mgkt. Just wanted to wish you well with the scratch if you do decide to go ahead with it. The (HFEA) hfea.gov.uk have an article sbout treament add ons. Might be worth a look. Diane
Hello. I have had this. And it was my Best cycle ever. I am 40. And have a history of failed fertilisation. 3 previous round. This round, had the scratch on day 21. 7 eggs retrieved, 7 fertilised, 4 made it to day 5 good quality and PGT normal. Not sure if the scratch helped or not but like someone said it was a case of trying it all. Good luck!
I am also 40 both previous cycles I got 6 eggs cycle one 2 made it to day 5 both transferred got pregnant and unfortunately lost. Cycle two grade a embryo only one made it to day 5 and BFN. I’m at the stage where I want to try everything that may help now for cycle 3.
Hi, my clinic doesn’t offer the scratch but I think that some london clinics do it as standard each cycle. I had a polyp in March and went to St George’s for a removal, the Dr also did a scratch whilst he was doing the removal, I think that if you do decide to have it, it only lasts for 2-3 monthly cycles x
Great thank you x
