Very painful bleeding during downregulation. Any advice?

Hi all. I have been on nafarelin nasal spray for 10 days and eventually I started bleeding today. It is being very painful, normally I have some pain with periods but not this much, and I always have ibuprofen but I can't have any now...

Any advice ladies? Is It normally very painful? I hope It doesn't last long. I am at work but have spent most of the time in the toilets so far 😓 even my hands are shaking because of the pain. I feel such a moaner... It could be that It is getting better but I don't know...

I am sorry you’re suffering.

I don’t know much about ivf and what’s normal and what’s not.

But I would call your nurse at the clinic if you have concerns. Hopefully they will put your mind at ease 😊 xoxo

Thanks, Jess. It's getting slighlty better... But I will contact them for sure if it gets worse.

I felt that when I downregulated that I had worse cramps....almost as if your body is being forced to bleed which of course it probably is. You can take paracetamol....if you think it would help but I'd probably just skip to codine if you're struggling...main thing is no anti-inflammatory Hope you're feeling better soon or at least hang on in there till you can get home for a hot bath/hot water bottle.xx

Hi Cinderella.

Many thanks for your reply! Luckily It is better now, much more tolerable. I didn't realise codein was fine; I never have It (ibuprofen is always my life saver!) but I will keep It in mind if I need It again.

You're welcome, glad it eased off a bit! I dont often take it either but paracetamol did nothing for me and I was getting really bad headached with the drugs so it was a bit of a lifesaver as you I always reach for nurofen which is a no no!xx

Yeah paracetamol is mostly like drinking water for me 😂. Good there are alternatives!
