Hi there. I am a GP. One of our patients was recommended it by NHS consultant, but sadly when I tried to prescribe it, we discovered it was blacklisted (too expensive, and other options available). I asked if the NHS consultant was able to prescribe, and she found it was blacklisted for hosp prescribers too. This is a rare situation to be completely blacklisted.

I hope you are able to get it. Our patient was recommended Zoladex injections instead.

Oh gosh that's worried me now! I saw the consultant privately and he was was going to contact my gp to write the prescription out. So maybe that's not possible now ? Do you suggest I contact my consultant after the new year to query the injection ? Thank you for your advice !

I took it prior to a myomectomy last year, as prescribed by my gynecologist. I wasn't able to get a 3 month prescription so had to have a new prescription sent through each month.

My fibroids were very large (12cm and 6cm after Esmya) but it did shrink them and I had a lot less pain while taking it.

Best of luck.

Aw fab thank you I've been prescribed for 3 months also mine are 5cm by 6 cm did they shrink a lot ? I'm in so much pain but they won't go ahead with round 2 ivf without shrinking them xx

Apparently the 6cm fibroid had shrunk the most - I think it was about 10cm before I started. I had to have it in order to make the myomectomy less invasive and the surgeon was able to remove them through a cut about 3cm long rather than a big open cut.

No problems since with fibroids, although I've had to have a repeat surgery for endometriosis prior to starting IVF in the new year. X
