ICSI and weight training, yes or No?

Hey ladies,

My partner and I are going to start our first cycle of ICSI in december with egg collection beginnng of January.

I go to the gym 5 times a week and maintain a really healthy lifestyle with my diet. I do mainly weight training at the gym, heavy lifting on all body parts. I'm just wondering if I should stop whilst doing injections and then of course after egg collection and transfer? I have read mixed things on the internet.

Any tips are hugely welcomed. Thank you xxx

Hi

I don’t weight train, I am a horse rider, my clinic have advised me not to ride later on in meds as any funny movement could cause my ovaries to twist ( something like that), I could imagine that heavy lifting/jerking movements could do the same. I also didn’t feel like doing much during drug taking last time, I felt a bit drained and definitely didn’t feel like doing anything after egg collection. I would say you are probably better slowing it down during injections and after egg collection. It might be an idea to change how you exercise for a while. I bought the Jillian Michaels pregnancy book where she has good tips on how to exercise through fertility treatment

Hi Em, thank you very much. I thought it would be best to slow down but didn't want to be over thinking. I will look into that book, thanks again x

Hey, I agree with Em2804 and would be careful weight training once you start stimming and after as you can really damage you ovaries if you twist the wrong way. I use to go the gym a lot but not do weights and had to stop for that reason but also the drugs made me feel totally wiped out. Wishing you lots of luck x

I would err on the side of caution and stop the weight training once you start your injections

Hi there. I am no expert. However, I agree with what the others said. It is better to be careful. ICSI meds can be quite tiring. The stimulation process can make you feel exhausted. You won't have much energy to work out anyway. So, it would be better to take it easy. However, that is just my opinion. The best answer can be found from your doctor. Tell them about your routine. Ask about how it will effect your chances. I hope you find the answers you seek. Good luck with ICSI. Do let us know how it goes.

Hello there, well it's good for you just try not to lift some heavy weight. It's going to disturb you. Otherwise just consult your doctor for better advice. Everyone could help you for this. Just try to take fresh and healthy diet as well. You'll never get problem if your diet is good. Try to take morning walk too and juices in breakfast. Don't use any supplements during exercise. supplements are not good for anything. Otherwise everything is alright. Be happy and try what you have to try. You'll get success.

Hello, my diet is very good; healthy and balanced. I have slowed down with the weights and focusing more on light cardio exercises :) Thanks so much
