Low Amh

Hello,

Got my Amh tested, its 1.04 ng/ml. I have Hashimoto’s which is usually associated with pcos, hence amh should be high. But its poor, which means no pcos. But also low egg reserve. Is it possible to conceive naturally in these circumstances

Hey,

I'm not 100% sure. I would imagine it's possible but would be quite difficult.

Are you currently having investigations into fertility? Xxx

Yup. I am asked to do a FSH study. Last cycle i did conceive but hcg was too low 17.8 which ended in a period.

I have low AMH and I didn’t conceive naturally as it also turned out I wasn’t ovulating either. And the best option was IVF. It will be a lot more difficult to conceive naturally. X

Hi Cyia. I assume that you have been referred to an endocrinologist and your thyroid levels are under control? Obviously this needs to be within normal limits. If you are overweight, they may offer you treatment with Metformin. Hope all is sorted for you soon. Diane

Hi. Yup my tsh is 2.2 now, anti tpo 500. Cholesterol, sugar all good. I did conceive last cycle, but didn’t sustain. So was asked to do amh and ata test. I was also vitamin d3 deficient. Have taken vitd3 60000IU for 8 weeks now once monthly. Amh is 1.04 ng/ml ata is 23, should be less than 18. I want to conceive naturally.

Hi. Could you speak to someone about DHEA? You may need a bit of help, but I do wish you huge luck with it all. Diane

Not spoken yet. Shall ask my gynaecologist about it. But she would insist on IVF. She also asked me to take prednisolone, which is a steroid. Not getting the right advice. Just confused.

Hi. Have you seen an endocrinologist at all? Diane

Yes. Taking 75 mcg levothyroxine daily. He sayz you shall conceive naturally, keep your tsh in control.

Well, at least that is stable. With a low AMH, all you can do naturally is to keep trying every 3 days or more often if you want, and forget about tracking ovulation. That way, providing your tubes are OK you will always have a supply of live sperm waiting for that egg. Keeping everything crossed for you. Diane

Yaa. My cycles are pretty consistent. I ovulate around cycle day 15-17. Can c LH surge on opk only for a day or two in every cycle. When i was detected with hypothyroidism and positive antibodies they felt i have PCOD. In PCOD amh levels are high. But mine are low. Don’t understand this? Rest i am planning to try naturally for few more cycles. Also wanted to know can amh increase once d3 and tsh are well in control.

Hi AMH might increase a little. Unfortunately there is no "magic" potion to rectify the deficiency. You need to work with what you have. Hopefully the D3 will stabalise it for a while. Diane

Hi Diane, maybe you can help me to clarify. I have low AMH if 1.1 and aparentou not ovulating since my period is late and currently on CD 53.

Do you have ante recommendations?

Hi Aefemera. If your AMH is so low and your menstrual cycle is so long, perhaps you are peri menopausal, I don’t know. You need to be referred to a specialist for further investigations and a proper diagnosis. Good luck! Diane
