After been quiet happy with getting 11 eggs and starting to think maybe a little bit possitive about this cycle I've come crashing back down to earthβΉ.
Ebrologist rang and said 11 had gone to 6 fertlised and that 3 eggs where immature
My clinic process has always been they ring the day after collection and give you a date for 3 day transfer and if they will go onto a 5 day they ring you and rebook you in for a 5 day.
So today she said so we will book you in for a 5 day transfer on Monday, which really confused me as they have never told me there was a change in process and they have always said my eggs are rubbish , I said well what happens if my embros don't last to 5 days her response to that was " well they will do what they will do " . I said so you don't do 3 day transfers any more then, and got back " well we will do a 3 day tansfer if that's what you want ".
A this point I got very upset and very angry and gave her it with both barrels and she back peddled very quickly ...... I'm booked in for a 3 day transfer with the option of going on to 5 day if quality is there.
We have only ever had a 2 day transfer and a 3 day transfer so I'm sure people on here can understand my concerns .
I rang my poor husband in hysterics at work so he is currently home with me again .
Call your dr that has been dealing with you throughout the journey and just double check with him/her and ask for the clarification on the 3 day and 5 day with regards to your embryos x
Sorry I half posted that when I hadn't finished lol.
They have backed down and booked me in for a 3 day, and depending on quality possibly change it Saturday morning π so do feel a little better but just dont need upset and stress.
lol, it's ok, we all going through so much, easily done. At least you have some sort of answer from them, so try not to worry too much, you will have either the 3 day or the 5 day transfer dependent on the quality which is good. Chin up, relax now, spend time with the hubby and watch some movies. x
Sorry your feeling so rubbish, Iβm glad you stuck to your guns and theyβve backed down but itβs a shame you had to do that. Keeping everything crossed your embryos will keep developing well xx
Aw dogs are so intelligent they know when somethingβs up.
Itβs understandable you got upset, I think frustration can make us so emotional and imagine if you hadnβt of questioned it and they donβt make it to day 5 transfer thatβd be worse. Sure isnβt, wish one day it might be xx
They certainly do, still drive me mad at times too though.
Your right id of been devastated if we had none left to transfer at day 5 , especially if I'd kept my mouth shut and just gone with what they'd said. I know there the experts but surely they need to go on your history a bit too.
Exactly they should be a bit more on the ball than that, sometimes I think there so use to doing the job they forget to think about the individuals life it is and the affect is has on them.
Hope youβve been able to have a rested afternoon xx
Oh how very stressful! Im glad you have stood your ground, I can look back on mine and wished I had done something similar to you. We got told 5 day transfers are the gold standard, I naively though they must all get to day 5! On day 3 they said that we had 2 decent ones but would hold out till day 5 and transfer IF we had any left. When I asked if I could come in for transfer right away instead of waiting they said no there was nobody around to do transfer as it was a friday afternoon, this is knowing that on my first round my embryos had all died by day 5! Turns out we only had 1 left on day 5. Arrgghhh! Oh and to make it all better they said they would bring it up that they should consider day 3 transfers in future for people like me!!
Good for you arguing your case honey, hoepfully with all your prep they will get to that magic day 5! Hope you're getting plenty of TLC from your lovely hubby and those beautiful doggies!xx
That's my worst fear to have nothing left, our last round they where really poor at day 3, so i couldn't belive my ears when she started on about transfer at day 5, surely they should look at previous notes.
That' shocking that they totally backed you into a corner and said there was no one there to do transfer, it's so unfair.
I can totally understand you thinking that all embryos get to day 5 the way they go on about them . At the end of the day id rather take a chance that a 3 day would work knowing I have poor quality rather than push them to destruction to get a 5 day one, does that make sence.
I said to my hubby since I've had a go at them, hopefully all 6 would make it to day 5 π.
Getting lots of cuddles off my hubby with the dogs jammed inbetween us lol lol xx
Yes I felt a 3 day transfer should have been done and that it should have been an option when things didnt look great! I was furious when they said the Dr's had gone home because it was Friday lunchtime!
Hopefully you'll be spoiled for choice on day 5, positive thinking! Everything crossed here!xx
The embrologist had obviously never looked at my notes or previous egg quality as she told me well we can't tell anything about quality yet as they have just fertilised, it's just that they have changed policy and are " pushing more eggs to day 5"
That seems crazy, little embies are best where they belong - inside you. I totally get going to Day 5 if they canβt choose between 2 but to have a policy of pushing them to Day 5 is ridiculous. Good on you for standing your ground!
