Hello

I wondered if any of you had experience of SSR themselves or with their other halves. Hubby is going in for his operation next Thursday and I'm already stressing and worried about the day. I'm not very good with hospitals/people being ill, we live an hour away from the hospital and I don't like not being in control! Is it crazy that I'm more worried about the SSR than I am about my part of the ICSI process? I don't think it helps that OH was really quite ill after an unsuccessful Vasectomy reversal so I think subconsciously that is playing a huge part in my anxiety and fears. I just want next Thursday to be over, have hubby back home and settled and hopefully have some 'wee men' to work with!

Hey hun

Aww bless you my partner went through a SSR in May this year. He was sore for the day but made a really quick recovery. I was so proud of him! If you have any questions please feel free to ask or if you want to look at my previous posts. Wishing your hubby and you lots of luck. He's such a brave man xx

Thank you, it's just nice to know you're not alone with situations like this isn't it?! xx

Hi, my hubby had ssr last Christmas, they couldn't retrieve with the needle so he had a biopsy, due to this he had a longer recovery. With just the needle we were told that recovery was days where as With the biopsy it took longer to recover.

They let you know before you go whether it was successful or not and in my experience the hospital was great and kept me informed on his progress.

We've just had our eggs fertilized through icsi last week so have two little frosties waiting to be used.

Good luck for you both xx

Thank you for replying and explaining - I wish you both so much luck for the future :) xx

My hubby was back at work the day after his SSR. It was nothing like the recovery after his vasectomy reversal. He was worried about the SSR too, but the recovery was so much quicker and less painful. xx

Thank you, that's a really good recovery isn't it. I know the vasectomy reversal procedure is a lot more invasive so fingers crossed he's up and about quickly. xx

My OH had a SSR in July.

They didn’t find any sperm with the needle so he had a biopsy too.

It was 8 stitches that wore away within 10 days but a lot of swelling and it took him a few days to recover. The op itself only took about 30 minutes but he was at the hospital the entire day with recovery.

I hope it all goes well, let me know if you have any questions and try not to stress (I know that’s not easy) xx

Thank you so much - I think it's the out of control bit that gets to me the most. I'm honestly more worried about my OH's part than my own and everyone keeps telling me he is getting off lightly! xx
