Hi, I’m new to all this and just looking to speak to those in similar situation as to me.
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last year, I had a miscarriage in June and found I had poly cystic ovaries. Recent blood tests have also found I have an under active thyroid which could or could not be linked?
My GP states that it is now two years before I can get any help and I wondered if anyone else is in or been in this situation?

Hi! Welcome to the group. Really sorry to hear of your miscarriage. How far gone were you? That doesn't seem right what your GP has told you. Have you checked the standard waiting times for your NHS trust? I'd be tempted to get a second opinion.
I'm not sure if the polycystic ovaries are linked to the underactive thyroid. Has it been confirmed that you don't have PCOS? I have polycystic ovaries but not PCOS and have been told it shouldn't affect our abilities to conceive. But I also have a hormonal imbalance and can't get pregnant naturally. Maybe I'll find out more when we start ivf.
Don't lose hope. If you were able to get pregnant once without help then hopefully it means the thyroid and cysts won't prevent it happening again. But do get a second opinion. X
Thanks Jacqui, not too far along not sure if that was a good or bad thing. Sorry How would I check my local NHS trust waiting times.
Only one scan to confirm my miscarriage when they found I had polycystic ovaries and my GP says that confirms a diagnosis, I have no other symptoms of PCOS in terms of weight related issues, but do not ovulate every month and tests seem to suggest I have only ovulated twice this year.
My husband has also thought we should seek a second opinion too x
Hi Smithy14. I too was sorry to hear of your unfortunate miscarriage, however early on, it is still a sad loss. I'm hoping that your GP is keeping an eye on your thyroxin levels and treating you accordingly. It is a hormone when all said and done, and needs to be kept in check along with the others. If you have a look at fertilityfairness.co.uk website, you will be able to see what the criteria is for fertility treatment in your area. Good luck with it all. Diane
Welcome to the forum, sorry I can’t offer much advice on referral times but just wanted to say I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you get some more answers regarding your thyroid xx
Hi I'm sorry for your loss. I was unfortunately told the same about wait times. However if you have another miscarriage ☹. I have had 2 ☹ they might consider pushing it. My GP started to take pity and did what he could and referred. Which... as awful as any loss is. You have to see the light that they won't allow it to keep happening over and over.
I hope this helps. But very sorry if it's not what you want to hear.. ☹ . Thoughts are with you xx
