Hello, had our appointment in Shrewsbury last week where they went through our results and told us our only option is ICSI. I have a couple questions I was hoping someone can help with:
1. Has anyone had ICSI before that can reassure me??
2. Can we still conceive naturally with a semen analysis of 1000 count and 15% mobility??

Icsi doesn’t feel any different to ivf, the differences happen outside your body when they fertilise the eggs so anything you know/have heard about ivf basically applies to icsi too. If they thought there wasn’t any hope of it working with your stats then they wouldn’t suggest you did it. Lots of ladies on this forum have posted their experiences of ivf and icsi so you should be able to find out lots about it by being on here xx
We're having ICSI (2nd round) due to male factor infertility. As Lizzie has said, no difference from your side of things. The only (potential) downside is that it removes the natural selection element of the process, i.e. The embryologist selects a sperm that they think looks good rather than the strongest one making it. Before we knew we had male factor I was going to ask for 50/50 with ICSI - fertilisation rate is around 70% with it and I didn't want to end up with none fertilised after all the effort running in to EC.
It is still possible to conceive naturally with low count and motility but it is just so much harder. We've been working on trying to improve the swim team for the last 8 months so I'll be interested to see if we've had any impact next week when we go for EC (last cycle we'd made some progress but not much - we'd only being trying to sort if for a couple of months at that point tho!).
