Hello All
I just wanted to share my good news with you all.....sorry for the long post
Its been a month before my last post, and I had stated that I was given devastating news at my first IVF consultation at a private clinic. I have severe endometriosis and adnomyosis, a condition that can affect fertility. I was told that I will not be able to use my own eggs or carry a child successfully and was given options to use egg donor and a surrogate and my success chances were only 10%. I have gone through what seems like the hardest time in my life to have been told this news. I googled to death, surrogates in the UK, how to apply for surrigacy, surrogacy abroad, costs, adoption and the process, how egg donor works, etc.
Last week I went to see my private gynecologist who didn't feel quite convinced with what the fertility clinic had told me, and he referred me to a fertility dr that he knows well and who is ethical and works on individual cases. I saw this new fertility Dr and was given news that he can work on my case, and that he doesn't see surrogacy or egg donor as the options for me at this stage as he can work with what I have. He then carried out an AFC scan where he saw some antral follicles on each ovary and told me that my ovaries were accessible - something that the other clinic said was not possible. I could not believe what I was hearing. I now have a treatment plan and I am starting the fertility journey in November. Even though it is early days and I am not going to get my hopes up, just to be told that someone is willing to work with my case and we can give it a go with a much better success rate is a really good feeling.
I just wanted to tell anybody that is going through this journey or anything similar, please do not give up. Miracles can happen and it is actually better to get a 2nd opinion and opt for a clinic that tailors a plan for your condition if you have one and not a clinic based on the highest successful rates as some of these high success rate clinics work with cases that are easy for them and they often try and turn away cases that seem a bit complex for them as it is a risk to their statistics.
