When is a reasonable time for first pregnancy scan?

Hello lovelies. Since our BFP earlier this week of course our worry has now turned to whether everything is development ok inside. I'm booked in for a scan at the clinic at 8 weeks.

Is it possible to get a private scan done sooner and when is it reasonable to go? Is 6 weeks too early?

Thanks xxx

Hello, congrats on your positive :) I think the earliest is like 6 weeks and that would be an internal scan but i think that just about detects the heart beat and you obvs cant see much but it is possible for it xx

Hey, totally understand how your feeling. My scan isn't until 8 weeks either and I'm really struggling. They do say from 6 weeks however last year I had a private scan at 6 weeks and they couldn't detect a heart beat which really panicked me. I then went onto have my NHS scan at 7.5 and there was a heartbeat unfortunately I miscarried but that first scan sent me even crazier. As much as I want to book a private scan now I know at 8 weeks there should definitely be a heart beat and it'll save me from additional heartache. Good luck on whichever you decide xx

I know it really is hard, think you've got to do what's right for you xx

Congrats. I had a private scan at 6 weeks and saw the heartbeat but they did warn me it might just be to soon to see anything xxx

I had a scan at 6weeks 4days because of bleeding and they couldn't see anything but sac and yolk. The doctor said it could be too early to see but you can imagine the panic. Another scan tomorrow to check if things have progressed. I wish I hadn't had the early scan though as feel it's just prolonging the agony. Good luck with whatever you choose x

My clinic scan around 7.5 weeks. They say they can't guarantee seeing heartbeat before that point which would just make ladies worry.
