Ivf egg retrieval

Hi just started my one and only ivf treatment. Starting injections in weds egg retrieval due in 2 weeks. What to expect when receiving pain medication but will be awake throughout?? Grateful if anyone can give me their honest experience regardless of whether its positive or negative.

Hi, good luck with your injections, they were a lot easier than I anticipated! My egg collection was also a lot easier than I had thought. I was sedated and knew nothing about it until I woke up in recovery. Good luck xx

I was the same. Fast asleep for all of it and woke up in recovery. A few period like cramps for a couple of days but that's it x

The egg collection is fine. I was out of it and didn't know anything that was going on. All the best. Just make sure you drink loads and eat enough protein. xxx

Hi it wasn't bad at all . I just had a tablet night before to relax and chill me out . Then in the morning went to hospital where in theatre was given gas and air for pain relief but didn't need it as I fell asleep 😱 All over before you know it . Good luck you'll be fine 👍

I was awake for egg collection. It was a tad painful at times, not terribly, but uncomfortable. I had a pethadine drip in my arm and I was able to get a top up. Also they give you a pessary to go up your bottom which is also a pain killer. You'll be ok. If I can do it then anyone can do it, promise 😊 💪🏻 xx

I was sedated during mine, I got told I woke up a few times during the procedure but I don't remember anything until I came round in recovery, last thing I remember is confirming my name and date of birth.

I was out of the hospital about an hour after I woke up. I felt fine until all the pain meds came out of my system. Paracetamol didn't work for me.
