Support available? Suffolk

Hi, I am over 2yrs trying on number 2. Number 1 took 2yrs too. As I already have a lo, I've been told that I won't get NHS support. That I'd have to go private, even though I didn't use the NHS the first time around. Does anyone know of support for first chats / explorations in the Suffolk area? Thanks.

Hi, I am afraid I am not going to be of much help but did not want to read and run. I am in Suffolk too and although I may be completely wrong in this assumption, I have not come across another user on this site (in 8 months) who is!

My story is different from yours but I was also locked out from funded NHS assistance due to my age. I ended up seeking private counselling to deal with the issues that had arisen due to my unexplained infertility. Are your local clinic refusing to even investigate your ttc problems? Or is it just that they will not offer any treatment?

It is such a difficult thing to suffer through, made even worse when you are shunted from pillar to post and not listened to. Really sorry to read about your experience!

Practically, I can only suggest contacting your local hospital (mine is West Suffolk) to enquire after support groups in your area.

I wish you only the very best. Hang in there xx

Hi Country Cat,

Thanks for the reply. Just to answer you, my lo eventually happened naturally. I am with the same dad (that was one of the questions, not the way I actually speak ha!) so for both of those reasons I don't fit the funding available via NHS :( I have had some basic tests done, but now the real stuff starts I suppose. I'm also connected to WSH. Do you have the names of support groups there that I could contact?

Also, glad you found someone nearby :)

Cheers.

The NHS will test you so far bloods, tube tests etc so you have a better idea of your current situation since your first child. After that you are on your own. Maybe baby no 2 will just take a little longer, some women on here have been such a long time for not even 1 baby so there are no rules to it and this forum is great for when you need support and advice x

Hi CjCx. It might be an idea to seek some support from other sources. You can access information about Support Groups in your area by going to our website fertilitynetworkuk.org and click on “How can we help you” – “For those trying to become parents” – support – support groups – England – then select the area you are looking for.

There is always the opportunity of counselling which should be available at your clinic/hospital or through your GP. A charity called the “British Infertility Counselling Association” can also be accessed at bica.net this is not a free service, but they are all specially qualified in counselling people with fertility issues. Hope that helps and good luck with it all. Diane
