Mixed emotions

Well the day finally came for our appointment at the consent clinic. Went through the appointment feeling ok even with all the complications that could pop up. Then was given a prescription for the drugs.

Finally onto a nurse to get our schedule. She checked my blood pressure which came up high (always does with the machine) but she didn't want to check it manually. Got a phone call this afternoon asking me to go to GP to get it checked before injecting training appointment next week.

Feeling panicked now. Will they let me continue if they can't get a lower reading? I'm not over weight, eat healthily and exercise. Any tips for gp appointment?

Does your GP surgery have a machine in the waiting room where you can go and do it yourself a couple of times and print the readings to take to your GP appointment in case you actually have whitecoat syndrome? Then the printed readings will be proof your blood pressure isn't too bad x

Measure blood pressure manually in front of GP.

In your case this is obvious option.

Or you can ask to check it several times.

Anyway it should not harm to you so extra measures must be taken.

Hi llc1987. Best to get to appointment on time and not wait around under strip lighting. Just have a light breakfast and water only to drink, until BP taken. If you've never had problems before and you're not on any medication, then you should be able to continue with the treatment cycle. Good luck! Diane
