Day 3 Update

So its not great news for me at the moment. We have 1x7 cell, 1x6 cell and 1x5 cell left. 2 others have bad fragmentation so cant be graded and the other one is abnormal. So all in all we have 1 decent on at the moment! Bit disappointed at the moment but have to wait till Sunday (Day 5) to see where we are. ☹️xx

Aw I'm sorry to hear it's not better news cinders, stay positive though as the others could catch up. Good news they are letting them go to day 5 so they can pick the best ones for you xxx

Cinderella5 in reply toSprinkles86

Thanks Sprinkles86 ! Im actually a bit puzzled as to why they dont throw them back if there are only a few. My theory being that surely they would do better in me than the lab! Hey ho, will just have to wait and see!xx

I'm really sorry to hear that. But all it takes is the one, so I'm hoping that this decent one is a great little fighter that will stick. Did they say why they are waiting till day 5? My clinic gave me the impression that if they knew one was better than the others at this stage they would do a day 3 transfer, but maybe I under misunderstood what they were telling me. Crossing my fingers for you Xx

Cinderella5 in reply toLondon7

Yeah I know and I would be telling anyone else the same thing, that it only takes one! Cant take my own advice very well! I think the rationale is that they can pick the best 1 or 2 which to me seems a bit daft. They only do a 3 day transfer if its decided that things are looking bad at fertilisation. Thank you!xx

London7 in reply toCinderella5

The fact then that they are still waiting on a 5-day transfer sounds like it is positive then. Hopefully it means they think the others have a decent chance of catching up. Plus you have that decent little one Xx

Sorry to hear you've lost some. 🙁 But it's good news you have the 7 cell one and the others may catch up yet. Fingers crossed for you. Xxx

It's not over yet hunny! Fingers crossed for the others to catch up. Our consultant told us that with egg development, things can literally alter in just a few hours, so there is still a very good chance you will have more good quality embryos come Sunday. What time is your transfer??

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toCountryCat

Yeah I know, thanks! I just need to give myself a shake and stop being so pessimistic! Transfer is 9.30am on Sunday. Kind of dreading it though in case they have all dropped off the radar!xx

Hi Cinderella, we are day 1 with 7 fertilised from 11 retrieved. They have not told me what to expect regarding what is cell division. Sorry to ask but what is good/bad. Sure they will inform as things progress. X

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toSuze4

They don't actually tell you unless you ask. Mine just said you have one good one but I'm a nightmare Googler that and found an guide, the same way my clinic does. On day 3 they look for anything between cell 7 and cell 9 and then grade them on division and fragmentation. For example 7 cell 4/4. I can't find the site I got my print out from to share unfortunately but 4 is the best, 1 is the worst, for fragmentation and symmetry of cell division which is also called blastomere size. Hope that helps & good luck!!xx

I have read from other posts categories like AA, AB etc and also that things can change day by day anyway like country cat says. In this process it is all milestones...waiting to choose right clinic, right donor, drugs to work, scans to be right and then this.... so hard but day at a time. We have strength together. Sleep well x

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toSuze4

I think they use A & B when usually grading a 5 day/blastocyst though some clinics use an A like a grade 4 which is the best. Yes this is a tough ride to climb on and even harder to get off!!xx

Oh no but don't give up hope. Are the 5 and 6 cell ones not great then? Sorry don't know much about it xxx

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply tokatya38

I'm trying not to! I do feel a bit better tonight, you guys sort me right out!! Well 5 & 6 are considered slow so it's not great looking. I only know cause I've googled the living daylights out of everything.....you know what I'm like!!😂 They did say one might catch up to make it two. Just have to wait and see!xx

I'm at an all day wedding tomorrow so yes I do have a nice day out. Just hope nobody asks about kids/treatment!!xx

Scarlett13 profile image

How many cells is a top grade A then? I have no idea about how many cells is good or how and why you wait so many days x

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toScarlett13

I honestly can't claim to be an expert in any of this. Any knowledge I have is through Google so don't take my stuff as gospel, an embryologist is a professional and in definitely not!!!!xx

Blinking Nora. Can you tell your husband i'm clever enough at making myself cry... I don't need his support! 😜

I'm actually feeling better tonight. It's amazing what two glasses of white wine and a crabbies ginger beer does for the soul.

I'm sad. But I want to see hope here. COME ON MAGIC SLIPPERS! And your Prince Charming xx

Cinderella5 in reply toemu2016

Oh for god sake you're gonna set me off now! No honestly you have touched our hearts, you need to be sad right now & so you bloody should be.....!! Enjoy those drinks, thought you'd have had the gin out!!

I called myself Cinderella because I was cinders when I was about 7 at school and it took me sooooo damn long to meet a decent bloke....my best friend! Where's my fairy godmother right now?!😂xx

emmab178 profile image
emmab178

She's in the lab looking after your embies. It must be a good sign taking them to day 5 otherwise they would have done a day 3 transfer. Keep the faith x it only takes one and I think there have been stories on here of lower quality embies sticking

Cinderella5 profile image
Cinderella5 in reply toemmab178

Thanks, I am trying!! My lab only decide what transfer they do on your fertilisation rates and ours was good and they don't change this even if things deteriorate which is damn annoying! Just have to see what Sunday brings, hopefully we've something left!xx

Hi Cinderella, it's so hard to stay positive isn't it. I can completely empathise. I kind of lost faith after finding out we only had two half decent ones and haven't fully recovered from that really but they are now tucked up and they're are only shot for another 3-6months so I'm still trying to desperately believe they're hanging on in there. You may only have one good one but it's still the best shot you have right now so plough all your energy into believing in it if you can. Thinking of you xxx

Arrrghhh the crappiness of ivf.im sorry cinderella.i hope you get some good news about your one embryo.i totally understand the frustration of not having alot of embryos.stay hopeful and remember it takes one though its hard to believe that.good luck for sunday.xx
