Egg collection tips

Hi Everyone, not posted for a while and everything has been ticking along nicely. Had my 2nd stims scan yesterday and go in for egg collection Monday. Just wondered if anyone had some good tips or advice for anything to do before/after? Thanks xx

I actually found the egg collection easier than the embryo going back in. Make sure you have a full bladder this will help, I don't know what drugs they gave me but I couldn't stop laughing. I think the doctors and my husband thought I'd gone mad. So all I can say is try not to worry as its not as bad as you might be thinking, I had hardly any pain or bleeding afterwards and was back to normal the next day. Good luck!

Thank you. I've been told not to eat or drink for 6 hours before so don't think I can keep a full bladder? I'm not too nervous just want to make sure I do everything possible to help it work! Xxx

Hi! Had my EC yesterday & was really nothing to worry about but I was terrified before! I slept all through mine so don't remember anything. I was just uncomfortable & in some pain yesterday but took painkillers. Lots of rest too. Good luck xx

I'm going to tell you about my EC. I was awake throughout the whole thing. It's not very nice but please don't let me telling you this, put you off. I'm telling you because I think you need to know that not everyone gets to go to sleep. I wouldn't say it was painful because I had an iv with pain relief in my arm and when it was uncomfortable I was able to get a top up. But I will say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! And it's totally doable; if I can do it then anyone can believe me! Good luck for your EC 🍀 💪🏻 X

Hi there. Not really, just followed the clinic's advice. Took it easy/had nice naps that day once home. I think I always felt ok the next day, but if I remember rightly it's no driving for 48 he's after? Hope it goes really well xxx

Just drink lots of water afterwards, if you aren't allowed to eat or drink I presume you're being sedated? If you are it's a total doddle, fast asleep then home for tea and cake! That's what I've had after my two anyway! The first one was rather painful afterwards, but I don't have internal scans so it might have just had a bit of a shock! The second one wasn't bad at all, good luck and hope it all goes well xx

Hi, I don't get on with the sedation drugs so I was quite ill for few days after, but the actual procedure was not bad at all. Good luck, hope you get a good collection x
