Consultation appointment - is it worth doing?

Hey everyone

Just wondering what your views are on having a consultation appointment with the hospital?

I received a letter yesterday saying to contact them if I wish to have one. We've had 2 rounds of IVF in October 2016 and March 2017 both resulted in BFP and went onto a chemical pregnancy.

We have 3 more embryos in storage so I'm wondering is a consultation appointment worth it? Obviously because we have 3 in storage then there is nothing much they can do just now as they are already fertilised but again I obviously feel anxious about having treatment again and having another chemical pregnancy which would be my 4th loss as I had a miscarriage in 2015 at 7 weeks pregnant.

Can anyone advice if this would be worth doing or would I maybe not get much out of this appointment?

Thanks

Amanda 😘

I would say what have you got to lose by going? x

Thanks for the reply. That's true. I just feel like if I go and it's pointless and they can't actually offer any answers then I might just get myself worked up about it if you know what I mean?

I'll maybe call and organise it. I'd hope that if I went I'd get something positive from it but just worried I don't and I end up feeling more frustrated again than anything else 😕 xxx

I would want to ask them what might be causing you to end up with chemical pregnancies and whether they think they need to make any changes to support your womb lining or anything like that xx

Thanks Lizzie, that's true that might be worth asking about. I think I will call them as I do feel very anxious about further treatment and hopefully they might be able to offer some answers that might make me feel less worried xxx

Hi Amanda86. It might be an idea to go to discuss your FET and medication etc. If you have not already got them, I do have a couple of lists of questions I could send you to have a look through, just in case there is something you hadn't thought of. Too long to add here, but if you email me in confidence to support@fertilitynetworkuk.org I'll send them to you. Hope all eventually turns out well for you. Diane
