Hi ladies what would you recommend eating for Ivf did you change your diet much? I'm a sucker for Diet Coke, and carbs. I've read you should eat lots of protein and lots of milk, Brazil nuts, almonds, avacardo, 5 veg a day? X

Hi,

Just had EC today, I got 6 eggs.

I stuck to high protein and lots of veg with occasional carbs, went to decaf coffee a while before treatment but during treatment have had the odd day where I have a can of Pepsi max.

Lots of green veg, broccoli and kale!

Lots of water as well but that was because I was so thirsty!

Good luck, try not to stress is more important than anything I would say, which is not easy, I took each appointment as it came step by step, so first baseline scan with the aim to be ok to start injections then next scan aim to have follicles! I've found not thinking to far ahead has helped me! However waiting til tomorrow to hear about if our eggs have fertilised is already hard! How am I going to sleep tonight 🙈😬

Best of luck!!! Xx

I don't like almond milk, and I don't have milk in tea or coffee (decafe of course), I have used milk here and there when cooking. X

I'm such a fussy eater so it was hard for me to change but I made some small changes. I cut out caffeine completely, no coke (which I also loved) and no tea or coffee. I made sure I drank 2 litres of water a day (I kept a tally chart of the glasses to help me remember) and I made sure I had at least two pieces of fruit with my lunch or breakfast and three veggies with dinner. I admit I'm a baby and hate vegetables but I just sort of smoosh them into the sauce of whatever I have for dinner and you can't taste them really :) I ate lots of pineapple on the month of transfer as well just in case the myths were true lol good luck! Xx

Thank you for the good advice, how soon did you do all this close to treatment? I'm gonna get de cafe tea, cause I'll feel like I'll be missing out in work otherwise lol :/ I'm a caffeine addict, so I'm dreading the tiredness and my husband is I think lol. Did this work for you? I've heard pineapple is good, and Brazil nuts almonds, avacardo etc! Xx

I gave up caffeine and started ensuring I drank at least 2 litres of water about a month before our second attempt and carried on going through to our third (so technically Id been on this diet for two months). The pineapple probably only a week or so before implantating on the third attempt, didn't try the first two times. Fruit and veg I started about a month or so before as well but it's never too late to start. Im sixteen weeks with my little been now so it can only have helped :) I had caffeine free tea but didn't like it but I got like those sachets of caffeine free latte and they were nice :) xxx

Good luck xx

I tried almond milk but found it too try. I didn't go out of my way to drink more milk that unusual but I had some with cereal each morning and a glass with dinner at night :) lately I've been craving lots of milk and chugging it down like a dehydrated person xxx

Were you on long protocol, I'm due to start injections next week, and aslong as everything goes to plan, my egg collection is booked for 17th of April? And then transfer 5 days later.. when shall I start eating pineapple? And it's the core isn't it? Xx

I started when I started my injections. Like I said I didn't know if it would work or not but I wanted to do everything I could? I was so sick of pineapple by the end lol but I figured if I started at that point I'd have enough of whatever it is in my body that's meant to help implantation by the time I got there xxx I don't know if it helped or not but it wasn't a hardship to try :) good luck my dear! My first round I followed all the advice and nothing. My second round I ate crap and got pregnant (but miscarried later). I honestly don't think it makes much difference. My advice would be; do what ever makes you feel the most comfortable. If changing your diet means you'll feel more confident, then do it. If not, don't worry about it. The nurse at the hospital said to me that women get pregnant everyday whilst doing all kinds of stuff that they shouldn't and not to take things so seriously as long as I was following their basic rules. I think it was the best advice I've been given throughout the whole process. It gave me the peace of mind to not feel guilty if I ate the occasional chocolate bar and it massively reduced my stress levels, which is a huge thing during treatment. That being said you're not supposed to have caffeine or alcohol so I'd definitely knock the coke on the head.
