Egg collection and panicing!!!!!

So I'm due to go n for egg collection tomorrow and starting to panic. My main worries are firstly getting no eggs, pain and levels of sedation. Anyone that's been though this before got any advice. Xx

Hi I went for egg collection and it was totally fine. I was just put to sleep felt quite groggy on waking up certainly wasn't sore. In terms of eggs it's always nerve wracking. Do you know how many follicles you have?x

On the graph they showed me I have a total of 23 but only about 13 at about right size. Last scan was on Friday and it was all a bit of a shock really as I wasn't expecting egg collection until Wednesday but they grew quickly, which I'm not sure is a good thing.

I think I'm having conscious sedation which I think means I will be awake. X

That sounds good to me if you have 13. Even if you have conscious sedation you ll drift in and out of sleep. You shouldn't feel anything. Good luck xx

Hi Amylcollins, I had egg collection on Friday and was totally sedated so didn't feel anything. Please try to relax and not be too anxious. You have done all you can now and let the Dr's do their amazing work. try to rest after if you can, I slept for about 3 hours once I got home but was only a bit tender after that. All the best for today, it's quality as well not quantity that they need. Keep us posted and let us know how it goes. Xx

Hi there. I was totally feeling the same as you about sedation but I don't remember a thing and was eating biscuits and drinking hot chocolate in no time after coming round. The doctor said some people are aware of voices and movement in the room but def no pain but most don't remember a thing, as I didn't. If they think you're waking up they'll give you more drugs, which work amazingly quickly!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the well wishes!! We got 6 eggs collected this time, I'm so super nervous for what's to come! I'm sorry you've had such a hard time with family recently! It's crazy, we love family to bits but it's just not fair! I have 2 nephews that were dropped by their mum & it's heartbreaking.....I would have felt like the luckiest girl in the world!! I know you have a long way to go but time is ticking along !!😘

6 eggs that's brilliant fingers crossed for you hun. My family are really sensitive about it all it wasn't their fault. It's just at the end of the day you're only the auntie. It's tough when you just want your baby. When do you think transfer will be? Exciting times xxx

Thank you all for your advice. Just got back home now and it's wasn't bad at all, in fact I can't remember any of it. They said they collected a total of 16 eggs but that they didn't know how mature they were yet. They also said to prepare for only half to be fertilised is this about right in others peoples experience?

That's great news Amylcollins.im due for my egg collection maybe Wednesday or Friday depending on wat the doc says.i have about 22 follicles and some are yet to grow so I ought have more.ny doc was super excited when he saw my follicles .i wish you the very best with the fertilization and transfer.

Egg collection for me was the least stressful part for me . Loved the sedation it's a light sedation makes u sleepy but you can hear slightly what's going on around u but I felt no pain at all , just a bit achey after I took a hot water bottle up with me and got them to fill it for me for my journey home . Xx
