Normally on first appointment you see the fertility nurse.
Usually they look at all your results and will discuss suitable treatment options for you both.Depending on your results will determine what treatment plan you have.
The nurse will discuss the NHS funding and whether you fit their criteria.
The nurse will also arrange further tests to you. One test you will have is an hsg which is an X-ray where the dr injects fluid into the tubes and checks if the tubes are clear. This is done after your period but before ovulation. Generally around day 8 or so of your cycle. You will be prescribed antibiotics to take prior the hsg as there is a slight chance of infection so they issue antibiotics as a precaution. Also I would advise taking pain killers as it can cause cramping.
The nurse will arrange another appointment with you both to see the consultant who will discuss your results in more detail and decide on a treatment plan and implent it. You both need to attend as consultant requires consent from you both to commence treatment.
All the best with your upcoming appointment I hope it goes well.

Hi Nic27186. I think "jess1981" has just about covered it all, but just thought I would add my bit for you to go through too. Often a first appointment with the nurse involves further blood tests being carried out to check for HIV, Hepatitis, and chlamydia. Probably check out your hormones again including AMH. A further semen analysis ordered if any problems with any previous one. A chat about giving yourself injections, plus when these will start. Then there will be some legal paperwork to fill in, which you may have to take away for GP to sign. You might be invited to an open evening to learn all about the process from start to finish, although this is not always offered. An internal scan of your ovaries may be done too to check for any cysts on your ovaries. Arrangements may also be made for you to have a laparoscopy or an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) to check your tubes if required. Can’t think of anything else, but wanted to say good luck with it all, and hope all goes OK, and as "Jess1981" says the girls here will be with you along the way, and support you. Diane
