Newbie encouragement please!

I'm 41 and embarking on IVF for the first time. We have to go and sign all the legal stuff next week and then it all begins. I am so scared, we only get this one chance because of our ages (well, mine!) Has it worked for anyone in the same situation? it would make me feel hopeful at least! (i.e old and terrified!)

Good luck. It's really not that bad. Just the emotional side is so tough. Be positive that will stand you in good stead xx

Many Thanks. Just don't know what to expect. Hubby is terrified and not the most patient, trying not to stress him out!

Hi there welcome. I'm in a similar situation 41 turning 42 in January. We've done 5 failed rounds of iui and are the to start our first and hopefully only round as because of my age we are self funded her in NZ. This is a great site with lots of lovely supportive ladies in the same situation. Stay positive look after yourself and try not to get to stressed about the whole process. Good luck xx

It's exciting and an emotional roller coaster all in one. Do everything you can in your heart of hearts to make it work. I'd recommend Pregnacare tablets daily, no coffee or tea, plenty of rest, anything to relax. Eat well, and after embryo transfer start eating pineapple core every day. It sounds weird but I did get a BFP. I wish you every success in the world. Listen to your body, put yourself first and drink plenty of water. Try not to stress during the 2ww. That is probably the worst time when all you need to be doing is resting, and eating properly. Be positive, fingers and toes crossed for you both xxxx

Hi Cazzieb75, so sorry for slow reply.

There is something in the pineapple core that is supposed to help with implantation after ET. I think you eat it for around 5 days after that. It's chewy but if it works? Personally I'd take time off work, and I did take time off work myself. I would have blamed the stress at work on it not working but that's just me. I think it depends on your age. If you're 40 like me then I think it's not worth taking the risk. We don't get many chances and we spend so much money to try this. There are always other jobs but few chances at getting our little bundle. Best wishes x

Thanks so much. I am worrying now, as am PT at primary school, with sole responsibility for the xmas performance. However, on reflection, you are right. perhaps they'll have to do without me this year. Time to put myself first for once! xxxx
