I'm so scared. I'm looking for positive stories only please!! No general anaesthetic stories please, only SEDATION because that's what I'm having. Egg collection scheduled for this Monday. I'm getting desperate here π’

EC approaches
I was sedated but it did make me fall asleep for a short while , like maybe just ten minutes. The process doesn't take very long. I woke at the end of the process and just felt really tired after. Didn't feel the pain during or after . Took paracetamol half hour before and continued taking every 4 hours. I asked my friend who had hers 2 week before me she told me she was sedated too it didn't hurt at all and if she had to do it again she reckoned she could just do it on just gas and air. I was terrified so I know what your going through. I hope that your experience goes as smoothly as mine did. Wishing you lots of luck xx
Thank you thank you thank you x
I hardly felt a thing. I thought I was properly awake but my husband tells me I was quite dozy! Felt absolutely fine afterwards. Some mild discomfort and couldn't bend over or wear tight jeans for a week or so but then I couldn't do that before EC anyway due to my over-inflated ovaries.
It really is ok so try not to worry too much. x
Please keep the positive stories coming; I will keep reading them over! X
This is helping me too as I am in for my scan tomorrow and likely hopefully ec next week too and getting very nervous π―
Let me know when your EC is π
I hope they can tell us tomorrow however I hear that often you are sent away with more drugs as not ready for ec yet.. I am hoping all these drugs have been working there folicly magic and we get a date tomorrow.. Will let you know... hope u get some sleep xx
I've had 2 egg collections under sedation. Didn't feel a thing either time and woke up in the recovery room once it was all done xx
I have had sedations and all fine, honest nothing to worry about...bloating feeling gets uncomfortable, and after EC still will feel bloated ...good luck...you be fine xxx
Hi mine was actually fine! ! I felt nothing. I strangely enjoyed being knocked out it was really relaxing. Just felt drowsy when I awoke for a while I was only sedated. It's honestly nothing to worry about! !xx
I had two ECs under sedation - one last week and one in August. Both were absolutely fine. I fell asleep, can't recall a thing and woke up in the recovery room first time whilst holding a cup of water and asking the nurse for a hot chocolate! Felt fine afterwards, rested for the rest of the day and last week got a flight to Barcelona the day after. Paracetamol should be sufficient for any discomfort. You will be fine. x
I've been sedated 5 or 6 times now for egg collections and embryo transfers and it's always been great. Fell asleep when the drugs went in and woke up when it was all over, didn't feel anything! May as well have been under general anaesthetic cuz I was totally out. I've had both and couldn't even differentiate between the 2! You will be fine!
Good luck
Xx
I have another scan today. I'm to remind the nurses of how scared I am. They said they can dispense me something similar to Valium for my nerves to take the night before and the morning of EC. I'm hoping that, along with the sedative will get me through this. I now know it's possible for it to be a relatively easy procedure thanks to you guys sharing! I hope I'm as lucky! Thank you all so much xxx
I was sedated for both ec and don't remember a thing until the recovery room. The second time I rook arnica tablets to help with any swelling. Good luck. X
I had 22 follicles on this last cycle so like you was quite uncomfortable. EC was fine though, slept through the whole thing! Woke up feeling fine and didn't need any painkillers. Drank lots and took it easy for 3 days and then felt back to normal. Everyone is different but generally most find it better than they expected. Good luck! X
I have had 2 EC under sedation both times no pain, can't remember a thing and woke up in recovery room. Having my 3rd EC next week xx
I hope it's 3rd time lucky for you! X
I really worked myself up about EC like you, I was terrified! I wish I hadn't as everything was fine! I didn't think the sedative was working, I asked when they were starting and the doctor said it's all done, I was out and didn't even remember! After I was all giddy and happy so an extra bonus!
You can't help but panic but take some comfort from all these stories and its ones step closer x
Tugsgirl it was a total breeze for me
I was laughing and joking with the doctor before I fell asleep
Before I knew I was awake and having a cup of tea. They retrieved 24 eggs
After that, partner and I went for a long walk in the park and really managed to relax .
So, although slightly sore, it was manageable.
So, it's all good.
Positive thoughts and just relax.
Best of luck with it x
To be honest with you the worst part was really the needle in the hand, after they sedated me I was all asleep and woke up in the recovery after it was over. They told me it was only around 20 min. I was asleep for, and I felt as if nothing had happened, even after getting home, so was very relieved. They even collected 16 eggs and now 27 weeks pregnant with a girl. Fingers crossed for you!
I started a new thread on this but did anyone take a rectal suppository for pain relief?? I've been given one to take...
